Hi Friends,

Is it possible or advisable to apply for Australia PR while Canada process is in progress. Just want to look at it as a back up option in case something goes wrong with my Canada application.

Yes you can... Canadian PR you can DIY....Australian usually use a consultant which is rather expensive. Unless you are able to DIY then it would safe you the money. Good luck.

I am hoping that you're doing all this by yourself. If you're taking help from some consultancy, then they are just trying to make money by asking you to apply for both. Nothing will go wrong with your Canada application provided you have all the documents for which you claim points.

Thanks for your response. Yes I am doing this on my own. Any one here who has done both the processes and provide some guidance or help.

Please do your research before applying for both and choose the one that works for you. It is absolute waste of money to get both PRs and then decide for the one to go. You will be left with what if dilemma after choosing one of it. You will have to lose one of it eventually due to residency obligations.

You will waste a lot of money in the form of application fees, educational/skill assessment, medicals and flight charges for initial landing. Definitely not worth at all. Just do your research before applying and pick one instead of doing after applying.

Thanks for your response. I am thinking of starting the process just to keep it as a back up option just in case anything goes wrong with my Canada application. My dilemma is if I wait for this process to complete I will lose a lot of points because of age and wont be able to make the cutoff for Australia either.

Not sure whats the best way to address this.

Most possible cancellations happen in 2 months or so. Like if you miss PCC or any other document.

After that if your job experience is legit and with big companies, and if your reference letter is aligned to NOC, then chances of something going wrong is very less or zero. If there is some sort of inadmissibility(like medical or criminal), it will affect both countries equally. So no back up works there.

In any case you will know the result in 3-6 months (unless you are PNP which would extend the process extremely longer). I am not sure if that makes a lot of difference to your case.
