Hello Experts,

I wanted to give IELTS first to get an idea where I stand so received IELTS results and posting my query here.

Need some opinion on chances on my case before I apply. If yes, which province (category, job code etc ). Please advise

Getting total CRS score of around 35-360 on link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

Please find below my case details :

- Age – Recently Completed 40 years

- Bachelors in Engineering from one of the top 10 colleges in India and Master of Science from USA in Industrial Engineering (education assessment not done yet); do we have to get both Bachelors and Masters degree assessment done or only master's?

- Overall 15 years work experience with 12 years in in IT – Business Analyst/System Analyst, Manager kind of roles, - Out of 12 , around 10 years US full time work experience

- IELTS score - Listening 7, Reading - 7, Writing - 8 , Speaking - 8.5 (I think is equal to CLB 7 as per http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/language/charts.asp)

- Spouse – MBA in healthcare from India (not working since last 10 years)

- Spouse will be appearing for IELTS soon and should get atleast CLB7 in IELTS

- I have traveled to Canada twice on tourist visa earlier and both myself and spouse has valid Canadian tourist visa

- Kids US citizens born in US ( I don't think it matters but just mentioning as FYI)

- My father’s sister daughter is Canadian Citizen since last many years ( I think to get points relative in canada should be blood relative like brother, sister, father, mother ?)

No Good. You will not get even PNP with this score.

Please find below my case details :

- Age – Recently Completed 40 years
Might be -ve impact on your application as you're in your 40s and not able to obtain enough points.
Canada would prefer a younger, more energetic candidate with 400's score than you. I hope you understand the reason.

- Bachelors in Engineering from one of the top 10 colleges in India and Master of Science from USA in Industrial Engineering (education
assessment not done yet); do we have to get both Bachelors and Masters degree assessment done or only master's?
College doesn't matter. ECA will give you equal points. If done B.Tech from IIT or some local university.
Get Masters evaluated alone.

- Overall 15 years work experience with 12 years in in IT – Business Analyst/System Analyst, Manager kind of roles, - Out of 12 , around 10 years US full time work experience
Doesn't matter either. You need to show only 3+ years of work ex to qualify FSW. Non Canadian work ex is not counted in Canada.

- IELTS score - Listening 7, Reading - 7, Writing - 8 , Speaking - 8.5 (I think is equal to CLB 7 as per http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/language/charts.asp)
Very Important! Get CLB9. You score will be in the range of 400's and then perhaps you will get PNP.

- Spouse – MBA in healthcare from India (not working since last 10 years)
Again -ve as she is not working for the past 10 years.
You can get points on her education I guess if you become the primary applicant.

- Spouse will be appearing for IELTS soon and should get atleast CLB7 in IELTS
Whichever of you two get CLB9 should become the primary applicant. Getting CLB9 is very crucial in your case.

- I have traveled to Canada twice on tourist visa earlier and both myself and spouse has valid Canadian tourist visa
Won't make much of a difference in getting PR. CRS points matter alone.

- Kids US citizens born in US ( I don't think it matters but just mentioning as FYI)
Don't matter for Canada PR.

- My father’s sister daughter is Canadian Citizen since last many years ( I think to get points relative in canada should be blood relative like brother, sister, father, mother ?)
You get 15 points for real blood relative I guess. You won't get points for cousins (Your father's sister daughter). Not 100% sure on this point though.

Hello,

in addition to the above post, no one can suggest you what job code to apply under. you will have to find your own NOC code. 350-360 is a low score but dont get dejected. you stand a chance to still go thru the pnp route.

Hello Harry,

if you are lucky enuf you get a NOI for a low score also. Eg: Ontario has a min requirement of 400 CRS to quialify for pnp; however, they reduced the requirement to under 350 (i know people with 340) for specifc streams (IT).

Yes Nishant. I have heard some cases of below 400 PNP nominations as well.
But age can be a big factor in this case. Like I said, Canada will prefer a younger, more energetic applicant in his late 20's or early 30's with the same score than someone in 40's.
Canada wants people who are more energetic and can work for more years in their country.
Older age can be a -ve impact in this case. IMHO though. I might be wrong.

Could you or others please answer below query also ?

As my both bachelor's and Master's degree in Industrial Engg and my work experience in IT, I have heard (not sure) that if degree is not in same field as work experience, CIC could reject the application. Is this true ?

I worked only for 3 years in Industrial engg jobs before Master's degree and after that only in IT I did job.

Also there are different agencies for education assessment - some agencies says if you have masters degree then bachelors degree assessment also mandatory....Pls guide for my profile which agency is right for education assessment and only Master's or both Masters and bachelors assessment ?

Also my wife has Bachelors in physiotherapy and MBA in health care (no work ex since last 10 years), to get points for her which agency and only Masters assessment for her ?

Hello,

for your questions above, it is not necessary for your noc (work experience) be the same as your filed of study. all agencies that will assess your degree will assess both masters and bachelors for masters degree holder.

for the second query, you can check their website and see the news for around june. this is when they reduced the crs requirement to low for IT professionals. Though i cant say what age group they targetted.

Last year around June Saskatchewan also started accepting pnp applications for IT professionals. FYI, saskatchewan does not have a min crs requirement like Ontario.

My wife has Bachelors in physiotherapy and MBA in health care (no work ex since last 10 years), I am surprised to see that my wife's bachelors college is showing blacklisted on International Credential Assessment Service of Canada agency website so I think other agency might have similar data (not sure) so to be on safe side better to get only masters done for her if bachelors is not mandatory ? what factors to consider to decide on agency for assessment so that chances of any issues are minimal for my wife case.

When I checked agencies for assessment - different agency has different documentation ..so can we pick any agency because Comparative Education service has lesser documentation than WES ?

I doubt any agency will assess your wife's masters without her bachelors. almost all agencies offer similar services; however a lot of them differ in their approach. I know a few people who have a masters from distance education which is not recognized by wes but CES does recognize that.

for your wife's bachelors, try to check another agency and see if they can perform an assessment (as in the institution is not blacklisted).

I will check CES website in detail......

I checked CRS point calculator and for spouse education if I select option "None or Less then secondary (high school)", total CRS points decrease by 10 points. There is no option like "Not Applicable" for education. I am just thinking better not to show her education at all (if bachelors in mandatory) due to bachelor's college as blacklisted as it might be negative for application....Pls share your view ?

Also is it ok to select option "None or Less then secondary (high school)" though she has done Masters ...CIC won't consider this as false applocation ?

It's ok if you are not claiming points for her education.
Or you can still show her education and select no ECA in the profile. No need to hide it

This is not true. I have my eng in ECE and work ex in IT. I got my PR just fine.

As per my understanding it is not needed to have bachelors verified if you have masters. You can get just masters verified and can send the bachelor's degree as a proof along with you master degree proof.
But I think it would be best to ask this query from the agency you decide to get the ECA done. WES or any other.
Those guys can guide you better on this as it will be them who will be doing the ECA and no matter what we say, end of the day, its what they say that matters.

I'll add to the above send your bachelor as well. It doesn't matter if you think it's a top university. If the university or the program aren't at canada's expected level you may not get the ECA you want.
So why send the bachelor, well the thing is if your masters gets evaluated as a bachelor, you may end up with a total ECA of 2 degrees or more, which is less in points than a masters but more than bachelor. so just send both. It's the same cost anyways, might as well get it done.
