Dear Forum Members

We:
landed at 2015 as skilled workers and stayed for 2 weeks and got our PR

at 2016 we lived in Canada for 5 months only

Tomorrow we intend to Land permanently in Canada!

When we first entered Canada we made a goods accompanied list and Goods to follow list
we took half of my wife jewelry in our first landing and put them in a safe box . now we intend to take the rest which is written in our goods to follow list . the value of them are around 30 thousand Canadian dollars

so my question is WHAT TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION ON DECLERATION CARD ?

Currency and/or monetary instruments totaling CAN$10,000 or more?

do I answer with Yes or no? is gold part of this or they are just asking about cash ?

Do you or any person listed above exceed the exemptions per person?

Do I answer YES OR NO ?

Also DO I FILL THE RESIDENT OR VISITOR SECTION? and WHAT ADDRESS SHOULD I PUT ? we are staying at a friends for a couple of days before exploring our options?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AS I'M REALLY CONFUSED

Jewelry is not a monetary instrument, even thought it can be monetized. So don’t consider it under currency/monetary instruments. Gold coins would qualify, though. It’ll be wise to keep the GTF forms and the official jewelry valuations handy.

Indicate your friend’s address.

As a landed immigrant, I believe you should fill the resident section.

All the best.
