Quick question about medicals:

-Any way I could do them or even just book it in advance, before they request it? I just got my OWP a couple of days ago and once they'll request the medicals I obviously wanna do them ASAP but am kind of scared it could take a while to book an appointment with a doctor then.

Once you guys received the medicals request, how long did it take you to submit them?

It really doesn't make a difference and just gonna complicate things when matching records. When they request medical, they put a bring-forward-date in your file to give you enough time to complete the request. Nobody is looking at your file before that date. So upfront medical doesn't give you any advantage in time savings. You should be able to get an appointment with a physician within a month.

I have a doubt with regards to the AOR. My sponsor got an email from IRCC on 22nd Nov stating that they have received the application. Is this email the AOR? I (the PA) have not received any email from IRCC yet. Should I wait for an email from IRCC before I try to link the application?

Looking for some insights, please. Thank you.

I contacted IRCC about the glitch in applications that shows "Your action is required" after everything has been submitted. I got an answer today:

Good day Client,

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The situation that you have described is the result of an ongoing technical problem. We are currently looking into it and will resolve it as soon as possible.

We verified the information on file and are pleased to confirm that everything appears to be in order with your application.

Rest assured that you will be informed if additional information is needed.

Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

To sum up - "Your action is required" status is a glitch. If you have submitted everything you were asked for you are good. If you aren't sure check your ECAS for possible request letters.

EDIT: Not sure if me reporting the issue with the glitch is connected to my background check changing its status to being processed. It changed it status to being processed 1 day after I reported a technical issue from my CIC account. No medical request letter yet.

Background Check - We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
I am a June Applicant

Thanks. Tried to link my application online but it says that my application does not exist. How soon were you able to link your application to your online account? Thanks

The first time i put 1 applicant instead of 2 therefore i could not link the application, then i tried 2 applicants, it worked.

Doing medicals upfront can be a bad idea if you haven't done them upfront already. When IRCC sends you a medical request, they send the form you will need along with a barcode and IME number for the panel physician to directly send the medical results via eMedical to IRCC which is then uploaded to your account, which is a much smoother process. If you do it upfront, you will just get the results that you will have to mail in, and there's no guarantee IRCC will accept them and register them in time, especially now that your application is already there with them. It may take them a while to link it. Also, when you do it upfront, they make you do everything. But for medical requests, IRCC only makes you do the tests and stuff they need so it could be tailored.

I recommend you wait. I know they're being slow right now with med requests as they're long overdue, but people are starting to get them now! (I got mine today). Just be patient and it'll pay off! They will definitely send you the request well before they decide on your application, they won't skip over it.

You should only get an upfront medical if you already got it/had one from a visa application OR if you want to get one to remove the conditions related to working in healthcare on your OWP in which case you'd need them to submit with a new OWP application.

Hi, do you know if all the work permits they give out restrict working in healthcare? (At least what you know) I haven't got mine but I'm just wondering because I'm a nurse and I've worked as a healthcare worker here in Canada before sending out our application.

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. I applied inland this year early Jan with my husband as my sponsor. When we applied, my agent has already asked us to get the police certificates from Canada (I have lived in Canada since 2014) and USA (I studied high school and university there), and I provided her these documents later on. Yesterday, my agent got a letter from CIC requesting a police certificate from Hong Kong (I was born and lived there for a while after university), and now I'm sending my application for it.

The thing is - my agent asked me to get the Canada & USA police certificates again now just in case CIC would ask for them later. On the letter from CIC, it says I need to provide "Police Certificate from (Hong Kong):...." but it didn't ask for Canada and USA. What is the chance do you think that CIC will ask for police certificates from Canada and USA again later as the one I submitted are already 11 months old?

Thank you all. Best of luck to your applications.
Per CIC webpage it is my understanding you do not need a new police certificates from Canada and the US as long as they follow the criteria bellow:

If you need a police certificate from a country or territory and:
  • are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
  • have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

In short, if you got your US Police Certificate after you moved to Canada that one will be fine and so will your Canadian one if it was done within 6 months before you applied. If I was you I would call the CIC hotline just to double check if you should re-do them but I think you'll be OK. Best of luck!!!
