Hi. I'm on a valid IEC activated in September and expires September 2019. I want to take a vacation trip to California with my fiance next year in June. I was wondering... Am I able to reenter Canada without problem? This is because I NEED to be assured that, as I am common law and I'm planning on applying for PR next August. Hence why I'm wondering if it's okay to leave at all for a vacation? I am visa exempt and do have a valid eTA. Please advise.

Hi

No one can assure you of that. You will likely not have any issues but entry is never guaranteed for temporary residents.

If you are already common-law, why are you not applying for sponsorship now?

We want to be 100% sure that we have sufficient proof. The problem is living with parents means no official lease proof. We have joint bank account, bills that go to the bank account and my insurance has him as my beneficiary. I feel as if that is not yet enough and maybe we should rent a new place for a lease agreement for hard proof?

You can sign a rental agreement with your parents or get a notarized letter from them. Many people live with family, so it's perfectly acceptable.
