Visitor Extension (necessary details?)

We are about to send in our application for spousal sponsorship (I am sponsoring my husband) but I need to apply for a visitor extension for him again. This will be his second visitor extension application. Should I mention that he is planning to immigrate here or is it necessary that I share those details. Do I just tell them that he wants to stay here longer with his wife? What do other people say in their "letter of explanation" for visitor extensions during the immigration process? I am just not sure what I should or should not do.

Also, do we choose "temporarily: 6 months or less"? Or "permanently"? I am not sure because it is a visitor extension and we are applying "outland".

Mention that you are about to submit your PR app and that he would like to remain in Canada during the processing of it. They may give him more (a year) validity on his visitor status if you mention this, they may not.

I would also maybe advise paying your PR app fees and including that fee receipt with your visitor application. Shows your genuine intent.

ok, good advice...
I read that the CIC does not like it when people have the intent to stay (and not leave) and that they prefer "dual intent", but I've read on some forums that people have mentioned exactly what you said and that is what I will do too. I guess that I will need to choose the planned duration of his stay as being "temporarily: 6 months or less", though, right? Because I see that "temporarily: 6 months or more" is usually just for sponsored parents/grandparents.

Also, I am afraid that I do not have our marriage certificate yet to go with our visitor extension. We are waiting for it to arrive in order to go ahead with the immigration application. It might take too long and we may not make the "30 days before expiry" timeframe for his visitor extension. Should I just provide a copy of the "statement of marriage" and state that the certificate is pending and we will share it (by updating our extension application) when we receive it?

Ask for one year. Include the PR fee receipt and state that he will be visiting his spouse while his sponsorship app processes. Provided you have sufficient proof of finances to support his stay, you should have no issues.

The 30 days is a suggestion, not a requirement; you can apply for the extension up until his status actually expires. Submit the statement of marriage with the extension app.

Will a statement of marriage be sufficient? I know that it is mentioned that a photocopy of a marriage certificate be included. Since we do not yet have the certificate (we are still waiting for it), should we just do the statement of marriage and then somehow send the photocopy of the certificate when it arrives in the mail?

Give it time for the marriage certificate to arrive. As I said, the 30 days is not a requirement. If the certificate hasn't arrived when his status is close to expiring, submit it with the statement of marriage and a letter of explanation.
