Certified Photocopy of Original document

Hi All,

I am preparing the documents for my e-APR. I noticed that I need to provide certified photocopy of my original PCC and bachelor documents to IRCC besides certified translation since they are not in English.

My question is that can I ask the Notary Public in U.S. to certify the photocopy of my original documents if they can fulfill the following requirements:

• their name and signature
  their position or title
  the name of the original document
  the date they certified the document
  the phrase “I certify that this is a true copy of the original document.”

Look forward to your advice and please kindly let me know if any other requirements.

When you use a certified translator (or the equivalent in your country - in mine I needed to use public sworn translators, which are quite expensive) then the affdavit is automatic and you don't need to include certified photocopies (as the translator can vouch for the authenticity of the original document and will attest to that in the translation).

Hi g126, thank you for the reply. Following is the translation of documents requirement I get from EE website.

If a supporting document is in a language other than English or French, the applicant must provide IRCC with:

the English or French translation; and
an affidavit from the person who completed the translations; and
a certified photocopy of the original document.

Correct me if I am wrong. Based on the requirement above, I still need to provide a certified photocopy of original document even I asked certified professional with affidavit to translate my documents. That is why I am thinking whether I can ask notary public outside Canada to do this.

Should I really certify ALL documents I have like: passports, proof of work experience, job offer and so on (all those documents are originally in english).
