Hi @legalfalcon,

I ordered my GCMS notes on 10/20/2017 which I got today. Something I cannot understand. Would you please help me understanding it?

In the assessment part, it is saying:
ASSESSMENTS
Eligibility: Passed
Security:
HIRV:
Criminality: Passed
Org Crime:
Medical: Passed
Misrepresentation:
Other Reqs:
Final:

Stream: CEC-Inland
AOR: July 7 2017
ADR: Not needed since Oct 10.
Nothing changed after.

Currentl Status:
Application status We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you. Help - Application status
Review of eligibility We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements. Help - Review of eligibility
Review of medical results You passed the medical exam. Help - Review of medical results
Review of additional documents We do not need additional documents. Help - Review of additional documents
Interview You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes. Help - Interview
Biometrics We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes. Help - Biometrics
Background check We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information. Help - Background check
Final decision Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

However, in my APPLICATION Part there are two updates which are very strange as below.

APPLICATION:1
Field Name: Security
Action:Updated

APPLICATION:2
Field Name: Security
Action Updated
Old Value: Not Started.

It looks like that my security check was not started but currently the status was changed to blank. What is going on with this kind of status?

BTW: I didn't see any R10 block. Where I can find it in the GCMS notes?

Thanks in advance and hope everyone got approved fast.

Hello @legalfalcon,

I got PPR today but I haven´t paid the PR fee ($490). There is no slot in my application to submit the recepit either. What is the best way to come around this? Should I submit a CSE with the recepit prior to sending the requested documents? Should I wait until the payment is requested? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello All,

I got my COPR (I am the Primary Applicant (PA) and Spouse - Secondary Applicant/dependent (SA)).

Now, my question is

Do we both need to land at the same time? or I (PA) can land first and then my spouse (SA) can land after few months but before the validity date on visa.

Also, when my spouse (SA), land after few months, I may not be in Canada. I will be travelling on Business trip.

Dear Legalfalcon and other friends in the forum,

I have received my visa (valid till first week of Feb. 2018) and COPR. I am planning to land in the first week of Jan. 2018.

I need your kind advice on my landing options. I am willing to land and settle either in Toronto or Ottawa. I actually don't have any close relative at any part of Canada. So all provinces are same to me. However, I am considering factors like living expenses, job opportunities, weather, diversity and access to higher education (PhD) in making my decision about landing.

I know Toronto is a bigger, diverse and more vibrant city. Bigger cities offer more job opportunities but the level of competition is also high. Toronto also has a larger corporate landscape, which adds to the diverse job opportunities of the city. The cultural and entertainment options are also abundant compared to Ottawa. Also Toronto has a larger Asian migrant community, which makes you feel at home. Toronto also has a warmer weather compared to Ottawa. However, Toronto is more expensive and hyper. It's a bit like London, where I stayed for my Postgraduate study for sometimes.

Ottawa, on the other hand, is less expensive and has a lower unemployment rate. It's less hyper and less competitive to some extent (correct me if I am wrong). However, many people say being bilingual gives you an edge in getting a job in Ottawa. It's also a bit colder than Toronto and many people say it's a boring city.

I will be grateful if Legalfalcon and other friends in the forum help me make a wiser decision.

Should it be Toronto or Ottawa?

I am not super rich by the way! I work in the higher education sector.

Hi Legalfalcon. Please advise me on my case.

1. My wife is landing as a PR in the first week of dec’17. I was unaccompanying spouse declared in her application for personal reasons. I am contemplating express entry or family sponsorship for me. If i go the express entry way, do i need to submit her PR card as proof of spouse of canadian PR. Based on processing times she will get her PR card by early Feb or late Jan of 2018. My question is if i get the ita and want to submit the application asap is the PR card necessary? What are the documents needed from her side as a PR?

2. Does she also have to do medicals and get a new PCC atleast for the last country of residence?

Please advise. Thanks in advance!!
1. The PR card is not required, the proof of PR can be done by CoPR.

2. In your case, your spouse will not need to do the medicals or PCC as she is a Canadian PR.

Hi @legalfalcon. I will re-post the question and the screenshots explicitly here:

Hi @legalfalcon i have received gcms notes and i have a question. In my notes i realized that in A11.2 at CIO note the CRS points were assessed 953 instead of 978 at ita meaning 25 points less. Then reading further it seems they only counted my last position in the company which is 1.5 years old and ignored the previous 10 years. I worked in the company for 11 years uninterrupted assuming 4 positions same NOC and I submitted same reference letter describing each position in the 4 placeholders. Seems weird that the initial Eligibility assessment ignored the previous positions. Is that something normal?

I don't see any issues with your application as he cRS is way over what you need.
How are you calculating the CRS as 978?

@legalfalcon

Hello! I keenly seek your expert advice on the following:

1) How will the Canadian laws treat if one fails to declare excess foreign currency at the airport. This amount genuinely belongs to the traveler and is earned legally (salary withdrawn from his bank account). Also, this amount is intended to be spent on some lawful activity in the country he is traveling to (say, to prepay a home loan there).

2) How would the application of an EE pool candidate, who is not living in Canada yet, be treated, if that candidate was prosecuted for the above and was not found guilty in the court hearings?
3) What would be the treatment, if this applicant was prosecuted, found guilty and a fine was slapped on him, in the country in which he has been residing?
4) What if, at the time of filling up of the application after getting an ITA, this matter is still going on in the court? I mean, the court proceedings are still going on. How would he go ahead with his ITA?

Kindly throw some light on the above. I would be very happy to share further details, if needed. Many thanks!

1. If you are traveling with currency above the limit of 10K, then you need to show the source, such as a bank withdrawal, etc. The 10K limit is to curb money laundering. As long as you can show where the money came from you are good. However, as a rule of thumb if you carry a large sum of money, why not just wire transfer it.

Hello Legal Falcon!

I am soon going to submit my ITA for Ontario and I have a few doubts about the Personal Activities Tab. We need to provide complete list of activities done for the past 10 years and there should be no Gaps. When I fill this information, can I leave a month's gap between 2 activities or should I continue it from the same month? Please have a quick look at the below time-line I have designed, advise if I can follow the same and also assist with the a few other concerns please:

- September 2006 - May 2010 - Bachelors Degree

- June 2010 - August 2010 - Unemployed (This was when I was applying for Masters, under the Unemployed tab, can I indicate "Applying for Higher Education in the UK" & mention the institution where I was admitted name of the company, employer, school, or facility as appropriate?

- September 2010 - December 2011 - Masters Degree

- January 2012 - April 2013 - Part Time Job (During this period I did some retail & cash in hand jobs for which I do not have proper references, can I still mention this period as employment and mention Part-Time Job and mention the employer names? - will they ask for any references?)

May 2013 - May 2013 - Unemployed (This is when I traveled to another country to look for a permanent job, please suggest if I can mention "Seeking Full Time Employment" and what can be mentioned in the name of the company/school tab?

June 2013 - April 2015 - 1st Full time job

April 2015 - Present - 2nd Full time job

I would really appreciate if you can assist me with the above.

Many thanks,

Khalid A.

How you have listed above is fine. However, you should have it as:

May - December
December - July
July - Nov

Unless you started something on the first of the next month.

Thank you very much for your answer @legalfalcon, really appreciate it!
I have a last inquiry regarding PCC. I have read and understood who and when PCC should be issued.
In my particular case, I was in Canada working until end of october before my work permit expired. I went ahead and started the process of getting PCC for my country of citizenship since I was flying to my country of citizenship in 12 days. The PCC was finished processing while I was in Canada, making my country of residence Canada at the time. However, now my country of citizenship is my country of residence where I plan to apply for PR; I'm currently waiting on ITA.
According to CIC: are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
I'm conflicted but my instincts say to apply for another PCC but could you advise me whether I could use the same PCC?
Your country of residence is where you currently live and on the date of filing of the application live there. So you do not need a new PCC, as it was issued within last 6 months.

  • For the applicant’s current country of residence, the police certificate must have been issued no more than six months before the submission of the e-APR.

Hello Legal Falcon

first of all i would like to thank you on you generous help for this community .

second of all ..

i got refused twice for my student visa and right now am such disappointment

i was looking for caips application and i have saw your offer in your site for the ( LEGAL OPINION ) that costs 500 cad .

i red your offer and my question for you :

1- does this include the caips in which it tell me what is going on ?
2- what kind of legal advice and help that you gonna give me ?
3- can you be my attorney for this 3rd trail ?

4- since am not a PR applicant ( am a student visa case ) ca the 60 days become 30 days or less since the caips notes will be release within 30 days of applying ?
thank you
The CAPIS is the old system, now its GCMS.

The legal opinion does include a copy of the GCMS notes. The legal advice is on a case by case basis. After evaluating your case, the lawyer will be able to advise you on what to do better to improve your chances. I am not a licensed attorney yet, so I cannot represent you. However, if you need legal representation, I can suggest you someone.

The GCMS notes are released within 30 days and not 60. The time frame you see is for the GCMS notes and the legal opinion.

You can PM me and we can discuss more.

Hi @legalfalcon .

Please advise at what stage the File is transfer to Local Visa office ?

and What is right time to order for GCMS notes . I am currently at NA2 stage from last week ..do u think i better wait for a while or can order now .
For the LVO see my post - https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/busting-myths-and-best-practices-for-app-tracking-monthly-whatsapp-ita-help-groups.522118/

The right time to order your first set of GCMs notes is 30- 45 days post submission. Then more requests can be placed based on what stage of processing your application is at.

To read more on the stages of an application see - https://www.getgcms.com/blog/express-entry-application-processed/

Hey @legalfalcon , I hope you are doing great ! I have some urgent query. I have an Ontario LMIA expiring in 3 weeks and I am currently at 422. I am thinking to apply for Ontario PNP under Job offer letter - FSW category. As OINP site says, it takes 30-60 days to process the file, my LMIA would expire in the mean time. Is it that lmia need to be active during application filing period only and not during processing periods ? What do you suggest ? should I go for PNP or work permit ? and why ?

I am not sure where you are getting the information.

How much work experience do you have. If you have over 1 year of work experience in Canada, you are eligible for CEC and a PNP based on that, irrespective of whether you have a valid LIMA or not.

If you can elaborate more of which stream exactly you intend to apply, I can help you better.

Dear Sir @legalfalcon

today finally got a reply from cairo visa office saying that your application needs additional processing steps to finalize it and if you need your passports before finalization you can have it back. they didn't provide any timeline.
that means they will need extra extra time if they offered to return my passports. do you have any idea how long this can take, if they want to do additional verification what can it be and can my file be refused after all this?

I cannot predict a time line, but it depends on what stage your application is at. It is just awaiting a final approval, or a security screening. If its SS, then it can take longer, if its a final review, its just 2-3 weeks.

You should order GCMS notes and see what this happened. That will give your a better picture and insight into what is happening.

Thanks a lot mate,

I submitted a CSE.

Another question!!

I want to rent a new house and move there by jan 2018. Will i have to info cic about change of my new residential address? Like submitting a CSE.

Thanks
If you change your address, you have to inform IRCC via a CSE. Your address is entered in your application and has to be updated if you change it. https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/introduction.do?app=coa
