A few final questions on Personal History

Hey Guys

I am almost ready to submit my application. But of course I am having last minute jitters LMAO.

A few questions:

1. The Personal History section only specifies Month and Year. So here is an example. My last day in my previous job was 1st September. My start date at my new job was October 26. So, if I just use the Month and Year, there seems to be no gap. But There is a small gap, between 2nd September and 25th October. Similarly, for another job, my last date was 12 September 2007. I started the new job on 17th September 2007. Do I now address the 5 day gap as well?

2. How much to mention in "How much money do you plan to bring to Canada". I am currently mentioning 12,300 CAD. But I am showing something like 45,000 CAD. This amount will obviously grow due to savings over the next year. It might also reduce if I decide to pay off a few loans. But I am not sure how much I will actually bring to Canada. I will definitely be able to bring 12,300 at the very min. So I mentioned the bare minimum as mentioned in the proof of funds requirement. Is this fine or do I have to align the amount I mention with the amount I am showing in my account?

3. Does Personal History need to be in order? It comes pre populated with education and work. And anything else I add to address any gaps, does not order itself in the date format. Might be a silly question, but wanted to understand what others did.

Can you guys please help out?

Don’t worry about the gap. If CIC wanted exact dates, they would have asked for it.

Your bank account can have as much as you like in it, as long as it’s above the minimum. However, if you are certain that you’ll have more, why not say something like $15,000?

It doesn’t make a difference on paper, but it might seem odd that someone with so much money in an account would only bring the bare minimum. That’s just my opinion, of course. Technically, as long as you have the minimum, that’s all you need.

Great. In that case I think I will leave out the ones that dont throw a completeness error.

And yes, I am now stating 25,000 CAD. I will certainly have more than 25,000 CAD and its also a nice safe figure above 12,300 imo.

I have couple of other queries.

1. In the passport section of the application, I am currently mentioning my current passport details. However, I am uploading my previous passport copy as well in the documentation, as some travel history is in it.

Do I have to create a row in the identity documents section for this old passport as well? Could someone let me know?

2. There is a question in the personal history section - "Has XYZ mentioned his/her association with military service or other organizations". I have currently chosen "Not Applicable". Not sure if it should be Not Applicable or Yes. Could someone please clarify?

You can upload old passport along with you LOE (which is what I did). Don't think it's appropriate to upload it in identity document since it's no longer a valid piece of document and they only ask for your current passport.

Have you ever been in the military?

No Ive not been in the military. I was just confused with this question below:

Have you listed all of XYZ 's periods of military service or government positions (if any), and all of the organizations that XYZ belongs to (if any)?

The answer to the above is "Yes" only if you've been in military or govt or if you are a part of any organization right? Otherwise am assuming its "Not Applicable"

For the Passport, In the Identity Documents section, I currently have only one entry - my current passport. However, in the upload I am uploading both my current and old passports and including an entry in my LOE - that I've included both in order to cover for travel history in the last 10 years.

I wanted to know if what I have done is fine or if I need to create another line item in the identity documents section and mention the old passport detail as well. I dont think so right?

If you've never served in the military, choose not applicable.

I've given my suggestion above, don't upload old passport in identity document section, attach it to your LOE.

Okay great. But in the identity documents entry (which is before the upload), there has to be only one entry am guessing? I will attach the old passport along with LOE.

Awesome! Thank you! Sorry about the redundant questions. I am just paranoic since it is my submission day LOL
No worries. It's probably one of the most important immigration applications you'll ever submit in your life. So no harm being extra careful.

Hi there,

Need an opinion. My wife has never served in the military/government, but have a membership of CIMA (Professional Accountant).
Does she have to answer this question with a YES? or Not Applicable?

Thanks
