Is this correct? If so that scares me. My lawyer told me that once you apply for your PR (I'm in Canada being sponsored by my husband) it's okay to let your visitor's visa run out because it's "implied status." I'm worried he was wrong. Any clarification from folks would be great. Thank you!

Did you receive an AOR though? Because, that's what is worrying me. If he has no AOR, or worse, if they return it, we don't know if his open work permit app will actually even get him the "implied status"

We sent our application in on sept 20th, it was received by cic on sept 22nd. On nov 1st my husband received an email asking him to link his application to his online account. (We have been trying for days and still can’t) I received an email on nov 2nd and under status it says that a decision has been made. I’m assuming that’s for sponsorship? I haven’t received a letter or email from them approving myself as a sponsor yet. Does anyone know why it says decision made and how long it will take for them to send me a letter regarding sponsorship?
It means they have made a decision on whether or not you are eligible to sponsor and it can take a few days to a week for a response

We have been checking out mail, our email, spam folders... My husband and I are wondering how long it should take in order to receive a "confirming that the application has been accepted for processing"?

Also, we applied for the open work permit under the family class sponsorship, but we have yet to receive any information... If we don't receive any information before the 30-days prior to the end of his Tourist Visa, should le apply for the extension of his holiday visa?

THANK YOU!!!
We submitted ours in September 2017, it was received Sept. 5, 2017 and we received an email with notification that our application was being processed along with an application number on Oct 31, 2017! We also applied for the Open Work Permit and have yet to hear about that... I haven't managed to link my application to my account yet so I'm hoping that once I can get that to link up there will be some information on his work visa... his TR expires on Dec 16 so we really need to know asap! I'll be keeping an eye here for any info/advice people might have regarding this, sounds like we are in very similar situations :) All the best!

Thank you. What is "AOR?" I'm new and not sure I'm interpreting the acronyms correctly.
I believe it stands for "Acknowledgement of Receipt" - which just means they have received your application, and have begun the processing.

My post tracking says that my package was delivered on the 18th, yet we still haven't received an AOR. We applied for my husband to have his visa extended since it's getting close to the 30 days prior to his visa exp. date. Hopefully we get an answer next week! I read that until the tourist visa extension application is being processed, you can get a refund for the fee... So it would turn out well if they give us an answer before then.

We sent our applications in July and didn't get an AOR until September. Have not had any update or request for anything additional. It sounds like yours is moving along which is great!

They also sent him a message asking for his schedule a form and police certificate but still have not approved me as a sponsor. Normal or unusual?

100% normal

Inland AOR is taking about 8 weeks right now.

You can phone them regarding your application.

No harm for extension of your visitor visa.
While applying PR and SOWP you have to maintain your legal status in Canada. I have been processing my 2nd extension visitor visa and a week later i got my SOWP so automatically my TRV processing cancelled.

Do you know what phone number is best to reach them at?

Ok so I've managed to link my application, yay! And then on Nov 6 we received a message that our application was returned to our address..? and that we need to provide the Schedule A form for police check. We've only been living here for 5 months so I assume my husband only needs an Australian check and I only need a Canadian check? Also can anyone tell me if we need to provide fingerprints for these, and where/how did you go about that if so? TIA

Applicant only needs police checks, applicant does not need a Canadian one unless they ask.

the email states that the applicant and every family member/everyone on the application 18 years or older, including the sponsor needs one. I'm his wife and sponsor so wouldn't that include me?

No, the police checks are for applicants only.

Schedule A is for applicants only.

They are separate FYI.
