Open to close Work permit

Hello,

My company has sent me to Canada for a project with CWP. Later my hubby got OCP.
Now my project is getting over and my company want me to come back.

We want to stay here and planning to file PR. but as PR takes time, Is there way to be here and switch the job, rather than going back to home country.

Meantime can we do below option

1. Can i switch the job and can new company file new CWP for me?

2. Can my hubby change the status to CWP and i change to OWP , so i can switch the job?

1. You would need to find a new employer and that employer would need a positive LMIA. The LMIA process has strict requirements, costs $1000 and takes months to process, so it is very difficult to find an employer willing to go through the process.

2. Same for your husband. He would need a job offer with a positive LMIA.

You can look into a bridging open work permit if you are within (4 or 6, I can't remember) months of your existing permit expiring AND you have applied for the PR. I'm not sure what that does to your need for an LMIA. Your husband can stay (and work) until your work permit expires I believe. You still get OHIP. Also, if your employer lets you go, you may qualify for EI. Just go to Service Canada and be honest with them. They will tell you the EI rules.

Being on CWP, Can candidate resign and apply for PR so he gets OWP in hand?
I have visa validity till May 2018, so can I be unemployed for some time and prepare for PR, so I can have OWP?

You can resign whenever you want.

In order to apply for a BOWP, you must have AOR and be within 4 months of expiry of your current work permit.
