In that case you really have two options if you want to apply for asylum. The first is to obtain a visitor visa (TRV) to Canada and apply for asylum once you reach Canada. To be approved for a TRV, you must demonstrate strong ties to your home country and prove you have no plans on remaining in Canada long term. The second is to move out of Sri Lanka and relocate to another country. Once you are there, you will need to be officially recognized as a refugee by UNHCR. UNHCR will then determine which country you will be resettled in (this might be Canada or it might be another country).

thanks alot for your concern what does TRV means ? and is it possible to get approved for asylum after applying for it ? i do have plans to get into canada and apply for asylum.

A TRV is a tourist visa. If you want to claim asylum in Canada as a tourist, you first need to get a TRV. To get a TRV, you need to have to show strong ties to your home country and prove you have no plans on remaining in Canada long term. You also have to show that you have enough money to pay for your trip. If CIC thinks that you are requesting a TRV so that you can come to Canada and claim asylum, the TRV will be refused.

You would appeal - if the appeal is also refused, then you'll be forced to leave Canada.

Yes - of course. Canada has many different immigration programs. Generally speaking, to qualify, you want to have a number of years of paid full time skilled work experience and also have completed higher education. You will also need to show that you have enough funds to resettle yourself in Canada.
