Hey guys,

I have a question regarding police clearance certificate .... do we need to get PCC only if we spent 183 days in a year outside Canada or cumulative 183 days in past 4 years outside Canada in a single country ?
Although its always safer to get the clearance, On the IMMIgroup website it clearly mentions that the 183 days criteria is for EACH of the years in the last 4 years. see link below. Although at the time they were talking about the pre C6 implementation, I am guessing the same is applicable now. Also as far as I know the 183 days have to be spent outside Canada in one stretch in order to invoke the PCC requirement.

as for the reason of absence, you are required to declare it even if it is work related. see link below (question 9):

Hi

That's what I understood that it is for 183 days in a year then u need PCC otherwise not, but under new rules I think it says 183 days are cumulative days.

I got a FP request last Friday. The letter date is 25-10.
I am going to do it today.
Don't worry , nowadays FP is just part of the process it will not delay your application. FP has become a faster way to do a security check. Its like using a SIN for credit check than other mode of check.

You need a PCC if you have stayed 183 days or more in 4 years irrespective of any rule.
yes maybe things changed with the new rules. I know in my physical presence calculator it says:

"Calculation name: 'Physical Presence Calculator - June 2017'
According to the information you provided, you meet the requirements to be physically present in Canada as a permanent
resident for at least:
1460 days in the six years immediately before the date of your application, and
183 days in each of four calendar years that are fully or partially in the six years immediately before the date of your application"

Test on 20th Oct (passed)
My (principal applicant) Ecas still shows In process though my spouse's Ecas changed to decision made on 24th.
Thanks

Thanks Rustic

u mean u had it in file when u went for interview ? Means u didn't include it with application ?
It was in the file i had submitted with the application. She asked for the PCC after she added the absence days and found it above 183 days. After we told her that we had submitted earlier then she fished it out.
