Hello, I recently got married and my wife is sponsoring me from Canada, while checking out the documents check list, I found this question unanswerable.

Q) Provide at least 2 of the following (check which items you are providing):

1. Important documents for you and your spouse showing that you are recognized as each other's spouse (such as employment or insurance benefits)

2. Documentary evidence of financial support between you and your sponsor, and/or shared expenses.

3. Other proof that your relationship is recognized by your friends and/or family (e.g. Letters from friends/family, social media information showing a public relationship, etc.).

Since we got recently married and she is living in Canada, while I am living in Pakistan, I can't provide the proof of first 2 options. Is there anyone who gone through same case? How should I answer this question? I have planned to move Canada once I get the PR.

Thanks

Hi,

Do either of you have a life insurance policy, through work or otherwise, that you can add each other to? It's not required for you to be living in the same country to do that.

Have you been providing her with any financial support (or vice versa) through money transfers etc?

Well, only 1 month has passed since we got married....so I don't have any above mentioned documents. But I have whatsapp messages, wedding photos, invitation card, marriage certificate etc. What should I do?

Well, the reason they specifically ask for that proof is because it helps them to determine whether the marriage is legitimate. They don't just look at the actual wedding as proof of whether or not the marriage is genuine; the marriage has to also function like a typical marriage (i.e. financial interdependence, etc) which is indicated by things like financial support, sharing expenses, life insurance, etc. I'm not sure how straightforward your application is or if you have any other red flags, but you would be taking a risk to submit your application without this information, even if you attempted to include a letter of explanation as to why you can't provide the proof (which is really all you can do if you are adamant that you want to submit right away.) If you have a choice to wait a couple of months and build up some more proof to be able to meet the requirements on the checklist, that would be my advice.

Who paid for the wedding? If you you both paid for the expenses that would be something for (2).

I don't know if it will help but this is what we are including for the financially support part
-visa card (I was able to get my husband one through my banks, joined with my accounts)
-hotel bookings from both countries from visits
-train tickets
-gift receipts
-eye glasses he bought me in India
-and there was something else but I don't remember

I don't know if that is good or what others have done, but its what we can provide. We don't have bills or rent. We don't send money but we would if needed. We both are financially independent so this is what we were able to provide.
