Hello all friends,

I'm going to immigrate to Canada.
Please help me in regards to below questions:
- How much time is needed for being PR after arriving in Canada?
- How much time is needed for getting work permit after arriving in Canada?
- Also would you please explain LMIA? I couldn't understand the meaning exactly.

I'm so thankful.

Hello,

1 - through express entry you can enter Canada as a PR from day 1.
2 - I believe you need a work permit before you enter Canada not afterwards. (Do more research)
3 - Its basically an analysis of how a company employing a foreign national will affect the Canadian labour market. In short a company will need to prove that it is essential for them to employ you over anyone else in Canada.

regards

Dear Tanaka,
Many thanks for your reply.
- One of my friends told me for becoming Canada citizenship, I need to live in Canada for 183 days of a year in 3 consecutive years. do you confirm this? if so, is it possible to live in Canada for 1.5 years continuously to become Canadian citizen?
- At this time I haven't marriage certificates and at first I & my partner are going to clarify our immigration plan then marry. So, I want to know if I'm able to do action for our immigration plan without marriage certificate and marry after getting ITA or not? I mean can we marry and represent marriage certificate after receiving ITA then immigrate with my wife?

thanks for your time & consideration.

Your post is so confusing. What is it exactly that you want to do. You jump from subject to subject. Is it Permanent Residence you are asking about or Citizenship?
You can apply with your partner before getting married as common low relationship or after marriage as your spouse. The choice is yours.

Dear Bobbieleigh,

I know these are completely different subjects, but i haven't any sufficient information about them. I mean how much time is needed for becoming Canadian Citizen?
Also about marriage certificate, I meant can I start doing my immigration plan, now (I'm single now.) and upon arrival in Canada and finding house for living and a suitable job which cover our life's cost, then marry with my partner and bring her to Canada?

Thanks a lot.

If you are in a relationship for at least one year and you can prove it you can apply for PR together straight away through EE for example. No need to be married. It's easier this way as sponsorship takes a long time.
As for citizenship you have to be a PR for at least 3 years to apply.

-First seek PR before you talk of citizenship.
-You can apply as a single person then sponsor you spouse. However, as advised, it's easier to apply for PR as a couple than to later sponsor her.
-No, you can't spend a year and a half then apply for PR. They count the full calendar years you stay in Canada.

You need to live in Canada for 3 out of 5 years to qualify to apply for citizenship.

This is wrong. Unfortunately your friend has no idea what he/she is talking about.

they have to be living together to be considered common law. that's not a common thing in all cultures/countries
