Hello fellow forum members,

When do you start counting 1095 days that are required to apply for citizenship? Is it from the date your CoPR is stamped?

1095 in 3 out of 5 years from the day before applying.
  • each day you were physically present in Canada as an authorized temporary resident or protected person before you became a permanent resident counts as half a day (up to a maximum of 365 days);
  • each day you were physically present in Canada after you became a permanent resident counts as one day;
So basically you need at least 2 years of physical residence after the PR (Date of CoPR). And up to 2 years (counted as 1 year) of physical presence before getting PR.

Thanks both.
So basically the date of landing has no effect at all. I can start counting days based on the CoPR as long as I'm physically in Canada.

Of course the date of landing is important.

The day your CoPR got stamped at the border. That's when you became a PR.
