Can one use PRC and travel documents for 2 personal identification? I mean can you re-use it since I would have tendered the PRC and travel document as they would have required in the checklist when you submit the initial application
In my case they requested provincially issued photo IDs. I brought a health card and an ON photo card (use driving license if you have, I don't). My ON photo card had expired but they didn't make a fuss about it. Point was, they wanted extra photo IDs even though I counted passport and PRC as the two photo IDs for the application.

I contacted CIC the other day to try and find out where exactly my application is. I was provided with the following information.

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Your file is currently at the local office in Mississauga. We verified the information you provided and are pleased to inform you that everything appears to be in order with your application. It is still within the regular processing times.

Rest assured that you will be informed as soon as a decision is reached or if additional information is needed.

We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.

I just wish that Mississauga would start moving, it doesn't make sense that some people with the same timelines in the same month are getting test invites from Mississauga while others like me are still waiting.

I received last evening the test invite letter in my mailbox even though my e-CAS still shows wrong address.

Question: My PR card expired on Oct 22nd. Do I need to reapply and take the new PR card for the test (if it arrives before the test) or is it OK to take the expired PR card? I have no travel plans outside Canada until March in the new year and is the reason why I have not applied earlier for a new PR card.

I would call an agent to ask this. I don't think you would need a renewed card for your test but sometimes oath ceremonies are not right away so you might not get your citizenship certificate on time to apply for a new passport as well. Regardless, you should speak to an agent.

Folks, I am on my bus, just got out of my test.
Test: passed 20/20. But I cannot say it was easy. There were questions asking very specific details so if I had not read the study guide book 3 times carefully, I would not have known. There were quite a few fails by the way, so some people left right away.
Interview: very straightforward. They just confirm if the info on the application is still valid: do you still work at XYZ? (I said yes and showed my government employee ID);do you still live at XYZ? Do you live alone? Do you have business trips outside Canada? So you mostly travel to countries XYZ?
Then the interviewer started carefully going through my passport stamps and this is when I proudly put on the table my latest masterpiece - printed tickets for all travel with boarding passes that I have been collecting all these years! He was very impressed and praised me for being organized.
At the end he said I met all requirements, so to wait for oath invite by mail in 1-2 months.
Ask me anything you want :-)

I forgot to add that my major concern was with passport stamps. I had some stamps in cyrillic languages and turkish, but because dates were in standard "western" format I took the risk of not translating them cause I am quite stingy I must say. So I am glad the interviewer did not make a big deal out of it and did not ask translation.

The current wait time for PR card renewal is over 60 days. It's quite certain that you won't get your new card on time. I am waiting for my new card, brought my old card with me to the interview. The interviewer asked me if I applied for a new one, I said yes, and that was it. She didn't say anything anymore. I'd say go to the test/interview and ask there if you should apply for a new card.

IMO not worth to apply for a new PR card. It took me nearly 70 days to get a new one.

First of all, congratulations! I was wondering about the stamps being in different language but dates being clear numericals in western format and glad to see your note above. I should really start studying..

I'll try and talk to an agent but I really don't like waiting on phone line that long...

Hey,

Good to know your experience. Will try to confirm with an agent before though just to make sure. It all depends on the agent asking the questions at the time of interview I guess and don't want to mess anything. Thanks again!

Wow, back in 2015, it use to be 10 days to get a new one. Thanks for the info. I'll talk to an agent and see if I they have any objection if I were to decide not to apply for one now. I really do not have any plans to travel until next summer, out side the country. I am just hoping I can avoid some paper work if it is not a requirement for the citizenship process. Will post here if I receive an answer from CIC.
