Confused - Have 3 super quick questions

Situation: I have worked for 101.5 weeks in Canada (just under 2 years). Work ended due to reorganization, job was under code XYZ. Got new job offer for minimum 3 years at different employer with job code being ABC (different than XYZ). Have all paperwork ready to submit once I go to the border (prepared by lawyer - NAFTA deal, shouldn't be a problem). Will start this new job after issuance of permit. I am considering applying for an EE PR under Canada experience. I would have between 410-420 points without job offer (depending on English exam which I haven't taken yet but it is my first and only language) but with 2 yrs exp.

Question:
1) Job offer gives 50 points, I believe (since not CXO). But in other places it says you need to have job for a year. With 50 points, it should be enough to put over the top. Do I need to create an express entry profile PRIOR to getting the work permit or does it matter?
2) Can I just enter 0 in the language area? (knowing I will be way short on points now but can update when taken).
3) As for Canadian experience, do I just write 1 year now and then update in 2.5 weeks after have 2 years or do I need a full year in that job code to update to 2 years Canadian experience or....?

Thanks

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
1- It doesnt matter and yes, you wont get those points until you work for your employer for a year and assuming you have a valid job offer.

2- No. Your profile will be deemed ineligible if you do.

3- You can update it later on.

DelPiero, thanks for your super quick response. Appreciate it greatly.

Re 1) offer is valid but why a year? See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp where it states 50 points for Arranged employment – any other NOC 0, A or B (this is an A job)
If it is Express Entry, waiting a year to take a job seems counter intuitive (it is not express), or is only way to get 50 up front is to wait for PR approval before starting job?

Re 3), can I update the experience after my 2.5 weeks on new job (even though it is a different job code - both were As) which would then put me over 2 years of Canadian Experience (or I could just wait 2.5 weeks I suppose given the answers to 1 & 2). I just want to make sure I don't have to work one full year in job 2 to hit the 2 years total Canada exp mark? Do the 2 years have to be in the last 3 or only 2 years total and one full year has to be in the last 3 (I meet that)?

thanks

Re1) You must be "working full-time for the employer on your work permit for at least one year (or an equal amount of part-time work)"

1- No idea what you mean by "waiting a year to take a job". For LMIA exempt work permits which are employer specific one must work for the employer for a year in order to claim those 50 points (assuming the applicant meets all order requirements of a valid job offer).

3- You can add all skilled Canadian work experience within the past 10 years to claim CRS points. You only need a year of work experience within the past 3 years to be eligible under the CEC program.

Thanks for the link, Anford. It's interesting that they only tell a partial story on the CIC EE pages (job offer = 50) - you have to drill down to find out the details (job offer after with firm a year = 50).

DelPiero, the waiting a year was kind of a joke - sometimes it takes a while for them to process.... But I do appreciate the additional clarity you gave. Yes, I am in a non LMIA required state due to NAFTA. It's good to know I can combine the work experience.

So, I will take my time on the PR as rushing won't help, get the new work permit, and consider applying EE later (getting that extra 50 points will really help).

Until then, I make a run down to Niagara tomorrow to get my permit. Anyone got a preferred crossing? Are there hours they aren't there? I'm hoping it doesn't take more than 2 hours plus commute time; thoughts?

Thanks

The consistency is there, you are simply making a mistake by claiming you have a valid job offer which you do not have (yet)

Sorry, edit is not working. Last post meant to say
I do have the offer. It is printed out right in front of me. What makes it not valid? Note that the lawyer has already entered the (offer) application into the employment queue and has an 'offer of employment number' and a receipt from the gov't showing the submission of the offer (required for NAFTA). I know you are quite knowledgeable so what am I not seeing?

There are three main requirements for a valid job offer
"if you have a valid work permit for a NOC 0, A or B job that is exempt from needing an LMIA, YOU DONT HAVE THIS YET and you:
  • are currently working for an employer specified on the work permit YOU HAVENT STARTED WORKING YET
  • have one year of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work) for that employer YOU DONT MEET THIS REQUIREMENT
  • have a valid job offer from that employer for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa" UNKNOWN
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/offer.asp

Like I said, you do not have a valid job offer at this point in time.

Thank you so much DelPiero, That is very helpful. It's because of NAFTA, now that's funny. I certainly don't have the 1 year work experience with this employer. My job offer is for 3 years on paper so I will probably need that confirmed in one year then I assume.

Ok, so will sit tight and move on. I apologize if I came off as dense but I couldn't understand the differences today for one reason or another.
