What process does CIC use including checks to approve the sponsor on a spousal sponsorship application and how long does it take?

I believe its things like have you declared banckrupty , have you sponsored someone already, there must be other things. Im unsure how much your job matters.

As others already mentioned, they look at the sponsor’s criminal history, previous sponsorship undertakings, any welfare/social assistance/bankruptcy information, and income/taxes/employment situation. Sponsor approval usually arrives anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks after AOR is received (for outland applications).

If I owe taxes from 2015 year, will that hinder me from being approved as a sponsor? I just filled my taxes this year, as I worked out of the country. So just curious if that will affect me

It's funny you ask me in particular, because my husband actually owes taxes from 2015 and was still approved as a sponsor. So yes, it should be fine :)

Oh perfect. I know there isn't a minimum income since I am just sponsoring my husband.. But still it makes me worried that I am missing something or misread it haha. Paranoid much?

And thank you so much for all your replies to us! You have been a big help!

Hi, Not sure if you may be able to answer my question but I am still waiting for SA it's been over 2 months since I got my AOR1. If I have taken welfare previously could that delay the sponsorship approval?
Everytime I call CIC they say it's still in process
