Hi,

I am currently on closed workpermit and my husband's Open work permit is in process.
I am planning to apply for PR just for me due to some reasons. If I get my PR successfully,can my husband still stay in Canada using in open work permit? will it be valid?

Also, I heard PR cannot be applied for him now as his Open Work permit is in process. Could any one of you please confirm?

You should apply for PR together if your scores are competitive. Spousal sponsorship can be expensive and take longer. The work permit application has no bearing on applying for PR if you are eligible. We could probably be more helpful if you described in more detail your “some reasons” for applying for PR.

Thank you for your immediate response.

Let me put more detail, due to my current work situation, I might go back to my country next year mid. So, getting PR is important to me at this point to stay in Canada.
I have all my documents ready at this point and I am eligible for Express Entry with my one year Canadian Experience. Need sometime to gather documents for my husband which I might delay in filing PR right now.

So, could you please confirm whether he can still stay here and work with his Open work Permit when I get my PR done. ? Will his Open Work permit will still be valid if I get my PR?
