Please advice on what to do to add my new baby born outside Canada to in-process 2017 spouse sponsorship.
I am a Canadian citizen, when i inform CIC;
1. do i need to include new baby to get PR with my wife and/or
2. apply for citizenship certificate and exclude baby from PR sponsorship.
What forms need to update and fees that apply.
Will appreciate any advice especially from a Canadian who previously had similar situation.
Thanks

Hi, were you born in Canada? Whether or not your baby will be eligible for citizenship depends on if they are the first generation born outside Canada.

If I understand this page correctly, the OP's child is a Canadian Citizen given the OP was a deemed Citizen at the time of their child's birth and was not adopted by a Canadian themselves.

My children were born on or after April 17, 2009
Your children will only be Canadian at birth if you:

Yes, you said all of that already and it still doesn't provide the right info.

Whether your child is Canadian depends on how you got your Canadian citizenship.

Your child is a Canadian citizen and therefore can't be added to your wife's PR app.

You need to apply for a Certificate of Citizenship for your child. Send a CSE with the baby's birth certificate to your wife's VO and inform them you are apply for the Certificate.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS FOR SPONSOR

3. Do you (the sponsor) and the person you are sponsoring have a child(ren) together who may have a claim to Canadian citizenship ?

If you (the sponsor) are a Canadian Citizen who is sponsoring your spouse, and you both have a child together, your child may be a Canadian citizen. A Canadian citizen is not eligible to be sponsored and cannot be issued a visa.

The official way to confirm whether your child is a Canadian Citizen is to apply for proof of citizenship.

The details are in form IMM5533…….the IRCC checklist.

If you the sponsor became Canadian citizen by birth, or naturalization or obtained Canadian citizen abroad as first generation, your new baby will have claim as Canadian and is a Canadian citizen and cannot be added to your spouse PR application........refer form IMM5533

However you need to inform the VO processing the sponsorship application about the new baby......update IMM5406 and send to VO abroad through IRCC webform.

If the sponsor is not Canadian citizen, i.e PR, then your just inform IRCC of new baby.....update IMM5533 and IMM0008, send to VO abroad through IRCC webform, pay fees to add new baby to your spouse PR application.

If you the sponsor became Canadian citizen by birth, or naturalization.....you should consider applying for proof of Canadian citizenship for your new baby and send the proof of application to the VO.

correction....u should update IMM5406 not IMM5533.
If the sponsor is not Canadian citizen, i.e PR, then you inform IRCC of new baby.....update IMM5406 and IMM0008, send the updated and signed forms and baby birth certificate to VO abroad through IRCC webform, pay fees to add new baby to your spouse PR application.

The official way to confirm whether your child is a Canadian Citizen is to apply for proof of citizenship. If it’s confirmed that the child is a Canadian Citizen, you can apply for their Canadian passport.

If you answered “Yes” to the question above: Please provide a copy of each child’s Canadian passport or proof of application for a proof of citizenship with your application.
