Canada Employer: In Person Interview

Hello Friends,

I am currently in US on H1B work visa and an employer in Canada invited me for an in-person interview. I applied for a visitor visa on 17th Sept. but still the status on my CIC profile is:
"Application status We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you.".

I have got two messages on the same day (17th Sept) 1. Completion of Online Application Submission 2. Submission confirmation. After that there is no communication from CIC.

Do you know how much time usually it takes for getting an update from CIC regarding passport submission or what could be the reason for this delay.

Just wanted to check,
Q1: I have one old passport with current valid H1B visa stamping and renewed passport without any visa stamping. Do I need to send just the new passport for Canada TRV stamping or both the passports.
Q2: Is there any post with step by step procedure of what to do next once PP request is received.

You must submit the new passport for visa stamping. Your TRV application would have stated this new passport number.

PP request message from CIC does not state anything about Visa, whether it is approved or not, it says the final decision has been made and we need your passport; does it mean my Visa is approved? Does CIC asks for passport in case of rejection as well?

Just curious about the final outcome of the process .

That's right. A final decision will be made only after the visa office receives your passport.

Passports are generally not requested if IRCC plans to refuse an applicant. That said, if the bio details and/or if a visa refusal which was not declared in the application form shows up in the passport submitted then a TRV refusal is most likely possible (and maybe even a 5-years' ban for misrepresentation).

You'll know the final outcome when the 'Final decision' status is updated to 'Approved and closed'

Hi @Bryanna,

Need your urgent advice. I got PPR message from CIC on 29th Sept, unfortunately, my nearby relative got critically ill back home and I may have to go anytime to my home country. I wanted to keep hold of my passport for any urgent travel and not submit passport to CIC as of now. In the PPR message from CIC it's mentioned that my passport must reach CIC office within 30 days. So I have time till 25th Oct (+4 days buffer for post).

Could you please tell me in case I have to go to my home country and may not be able to submit the passport by 29th Oct. What options can I have, can I get the date extended? Can I submit my passport in India?

As per your view, what action can i take now in my current situation. Thank you!

Hi Rocky,

Yes, you can submit your passport in India within 30 days of the passport request. The visa office will not extend the 30 days limit.

You'll need to contact the relevant India visa office to confirm you can submit your passport to the nearest VFS/VAC. You cannot mail your passport directly to the visa office.

Do remember there are several holidays at Diwali (not just the visa office, but VFS and also Blue Dart Couriers)

I am planning to send my PP for stamping, I read about the requirements but there are so much information on VAC's website which may not applicable for my case of just PP request by CIC, could you please confirm below information and my next steps below:

I am still struggling with unfortunate event of my beloved one being critically ill back home. I am not in position to submit my passport to VAC and deadline for PP submission is approaching soon (27th September)

Could you please tell me other options I have? I read on the forum that I can send an email to CIC requesting for the extension of the PP submission deadline. I have below queries:

1. What is the email address I need to send this request to, I am dealing with Los Angeles Visa office.
2. Do you think they accept such requests?
3. Do you know any contact/phone number I can call to put my request?
4. Any other advise to deal this situation.

You can email the LA visa office to request for an extension for submitting your passport. However, I would not hold my breath that they will agree.

Instead I recommend you submit your passport ASAP with a letter requesting that visa stamping is done at the earliest + include evidence/doctor's note about your relative's critical condition and why you need your passport to be returned soon.
