Entering Canada with ETA with one-way flight

My boyfriend is planning to come to Canada in a few days, and currently only has a one way flight booked. He has applied and received the ETA, but we are wondering whether he will have issues entering without a return flight.

We just are not sure of the long term plan yet, which is why he doesn't have a return flight. He will be living with me and my family during the duration of his stay. He might stay up to 6 months (obviously not working). He has applied for a working visa, and is hoping to receive it while he is here, in which case he will leave and re-enter the country. If he doesn't, he will stay as long as funds allow him.

So basically what we are wondering is if they will question the fact that he currently does not have a return flight yet. Thanks in advance for any help!

he might be questioned by his airline whiles checking in why he only has a one way ticket. its a red flag for CBSA , that his intentions is to stay and not return. they may refuse him entry.

Besides one way tickets are more expensive than return tickets. so why buy a one-way ticket?

If i were your bf, i will buy roundtrip ticket. i dont want any trouble and ruin the plan. Anyhow soon he arrives in Canada, he can cancel the return ticket :)

Get a return flight. Quite possible the airline won't even let him board the plane for Canada. If he gets on the flight - it's quite possible he'll run into issues at the border. He's only allowed to visit at this time. Visitors have return ticket.
