Dear All,

I got Canada PR this month and i am planning to travel next month in November to Canada.
My intended place to go is Fredericton. I am thinking to go to New York first and hire rent car there and enter to Canada by road. I will just stay max 3 weeks to process PR card and come back again to USA.
Will this be okay to make port of entry by road?
Is it fine if i exit Canada by road without having PR card?
Is there any other kind of risk involved if i choose entry by road?

Please help me. I will really appreciate all the suggestions and comments.

Hi, think the first thing you do is to check if this port allows for the landing process. If it does it should be OK.
Yes you can leave Canada as once you do the landing process you will get your COPR stamped and that is a legal document to say you are a Canadian PR. You can use this document to enter Canada by road (but not by air as that would require a PR card or a temp PR visa PRTD)
You will need to provide an address in Canada to which the PR card will be mailed to. Waiting time is about 61 days.
Based on what I have read landing via road or air is similar.

Thanks for reply. One more thing, i have nomination from New Brunswick and i will land in Montreal then will go to New Brunswick-
- I dont have permanent address yet in New Brunswick. My friend is living in Newfoundland and Labrador , can i give his address for PR card process?
- Do i need to show proof of onward journey to New Brunswick at Montreal airport?
- If yes then Rental car booking is ok? I will take rental car and drive to New Brunswick (Fredericton).

Thanks in advance

Yes you should be able to use that address. Just make sure that it is the address you want your PR card to be sent to. This is very important.
Once you are granted PR you can live anywhere in Canada.
Just have all your documents in place and explain to the immigration officer. I'm pretty sure they will understand.

After the landing process you can go back to your MyCIC online account and look for a tab to link your PR card processing to your account so that you can monitor it. If you run into any issues quickly call CIC to find out.

Good luck.

Thanks Adrlim, you are really good. Now i just got one more confusion, I am landing in Quebec and intended destination is Fredericton in New Brunswick. I read somewhere i need 'Quebec Selection Certificate' to land in Quebec. Would it be applied in my case. Note i will just land in Quebec and then go to NB by road. Please clear my confustion thanks.

Hi there. Just trying to help fellow mates who are in the same process I went through.

I am not familiar with Quebec and based on googling I found this. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/processing-time-for-quebec-selection-certificate.165659/
It looks like you will need it.
Quebec is usually different from other provinces in many ways so landing there could be a different process. Would you consider landing somewhere else that could be closer and also more convenient? Good luck buddy.
