My IELTS is after 1 month. I have been doing practice for last 2-3 weeks for all sections. I am not so confident for writing and speakings sections. I am able to speak English well.

In both writing and speaking , problem is - getting more ideas and then structure them.

Anyone please give any pointers. I am familiar with IELTSLIZ, IELTSMaterial sites But if someone has done preparation from different sources if anybody could recommend best books, website etc, I would greatly appreciate

I sat the IELTS 2 weeks ago and faced the same fears. In the end it was fine (band score of 8.5 :)).

I also checked out Ieltsliz.com for pointers, great site!

What helped me was to find some sample questions and just write the essays. My main enemy was keeping track of time, but I also had a tendency to write either too many paragraphs/ideas or not enough, depending on the subject. My advice would be to first think about your essay structure before writing anything. Make sure you practice this. During the test you can use an extra piece of paper or the question booklet for this I believe. You don't need a dozen ideas for your essay, just pick 2 or 3 to start with and you may find that this is enough.

As for the source of the sample question, the institution I took the test at has a candidate section with a small number of free practice tests. This was very useful, perhaps your test centre has something similar?

When it comes to speaking, you need to be somewhat lucky with the subject. However, even when the topic is horrible and you have no idea what to say (in my case "Do you want to be a pop start?"), just start talking/chatting. It doesn't matter so terribly whether you have good ideas or not, just make sure you talk.

A final tip regarding speaking: try to chat with the other candidates and make sure you do this in English. This will help your mind flip a switch to English rather than your native tongue.

Good luck with your IELTS!

Thanks bastiaandg a lot !

I am in US so any agency to get the evaluation done to check my level for writing and speaking ?

Also Do you think it is worth taking the paid service for evaluation before the actual tests ?

Check Ieltsliz.com and ieltsmaterial.com

Good luck
Thanks NC31 for your reply. Yes, but I am aware of both Ieltsliz.com and ieltsmaterial.com and personally I feel there are so many links on IELTSLIZ site (so sometimes I feel being lost), so asked if any source for focused and structured book/site for Speaking and writing
