Question 1's reply:

You can submit the 10th marksheet and voter ID provided you have a birth certificate and it is registered late. Not when it is missing. Did you write an explanation letter as in why you cannot proceed. They may have rejected this as Indian government has made the issuance of birth certificate online.

I see that your spouse is from Punjab. Here is the link to apply for birth certificate: http://punjab.gov.in/e-forms Search for birth certificate and fill the form and submit it.

As her newly issued birth certificate will be registered late, she will have to include either the original baptism certificate and other original documents establishing identity such as:
  • Old school records (Fifth class, Middle standard and Matriculation/secondary school certificate), and
  • Voter's ID card.

Question 2's reply:
As per CIC, the definition of family is the applicant and his/her children from a previous marriage/relationships if any or children of the sponsor and applicant, not parents or siblings.

Thanks for replying. Actually, we tried getting her Birth Certificate but we couldn't manage to get it even after struggling for months. What can be done?

Simply put, if one doesn't have a Birth Certificate of her spouse, how does he proceed then? Please reply..

Application will not be accepted without birth certificate.

We tried getting the Birth Certificate and couldn't get it. Is there ABSOLUTELY nothing at all that can be done to overcome it or use some other documents in its place?

Here is what I would suggest.

Proof of that you applied for birth certificate: photocopy of the signed form (make sure the date is legit)
Any proof of payment for the application like a receipt
Explanation letter stating on how you have wAited for months

Attach 10th certificate, voter id originals

Again I m not sure if it will work but in the checklist they do say explain why docs are missing with legit reason.

Good luck

Applicant’s birth certificate is a mandatory document. You can submit 10th certificate, if that has d.o.b on it. However, you still need to have an affidavit to prove why the birth certificate can’t be obtained.

Birth certificates for family members is also required.as I mentioned before, any national ID document with a d.o.b along with an affidavit should work.

I don’t understand what is the trouble to obtain a birth certificate. If the d.o.b is different on passport and birth certificate, another affidavit to prove why the change happened. They are looking for transparency in the application, if you are trying to hide something, that will trigger more problems.

Thanks for replying. We are not trying to hide anything. Its just that my wife tried getting the Birth Certificate and the authorities gave her a hard time and then she thought that she would use the Affidavit instead wherever the Birth Certificate might be required.

The first time our application was returned because we didn't put the letters from our friends/family about our marriage. The second time it was returned because of the missing Birth certificate. We have lost close to 4 months this way. I just want to make sure, the application gies through this time.

Thanks for replying. Do we have a format of an affidavit that I can refer?

'Originals' means we have to put in actual 10th Marksheet and Voter ID in our application?

I AM MARCH 29 STILL WAITING FOR BGC TO START AND
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS STATUS STILL SAYS UPLOADED .
ANYONE WITH SIMILAR SITUATION ?

NDVO is very slow and also very random in which they process the applications. It would have been nicer if they follow some order either aor1 or aor 2 so we can wait for our turn. Now its all random so every time we see someone got update we need check our status and get dissapointed..
