Everyone has a different settlement story, showing respect to everyone, I will tell my one.
SINP EE nomination and living in Regina, SK
First I will talk about Job opportunities and job market. As far whatever I heard, most of them were scary about the job market and condition, but my findings are a bit different.
Let me clarify my qualifications, skills and educations first.
Bachelor and masters in Finance, Worked in a telecommunication company in customer service for 4 years, then works in a local bank for 4 years in my home country.
So far, in Canada I applied for around 50 jobs (job related to banks, customer service, sales, walmart etc.)
So far I attended 8 interviews, got selected for 4 jobs (2 in 2 banks ), 2 for customer services. Already rejected 2 jobs, started 1 job, waiting for bank joining as they are doing the background checking now.
here the fact is, Job market is not that bad until unless you are looking for something superior. If you are thinking to get job in exact same position you were in your home country, then it will be very tough. even your experience will not help that much to start a mid level position.
On the very first day of my landing, I just set my mind to start any sort of job and will try to move to my desire sector eventually. By the grace of God, I got the job in my desire sector within 2 months of landing.
my recommendation for everyone is, never become negative minded, Job market is not as bad as we heard, just be a bit more flexible for job searching. start doing whatever you get here, prepare yourself for your desire sector, there is a high (almost 100%) probability that you will again start your career from entry level position, still for a better living YOU SHOULD TRY.
For business grad people, job opening related to customer service and sales are very high in Regina now.
Best of luck to everyone.
