Hi all,
I have been working for the same company (on NOC 2174) sine I graduated from the university about 12 years ago.
I just want to ask is it normal to have only one reference letter from one company for the whole 12 years of my experience when I apply for Express Entry? Will that rise any "red flag" on my profile ?

What is so red flagged about it? People are working for their company the whole life.
Out of my curiosity, can you explain why you feel it is a red flagged?

Are you performing some other work than NOC 2174?? I mean what makes you feel that you would be red flagged?? Really??

LOL; it's usually the newbies and it's only because they're so new to the process and eager. I'm sure we all went through an 'over-thinking it' stage when we first started out. With time, they'll mellow out like the rest of us :)

At the very least, it's definitely better to over-think things than to be too complacent and end up making a silly mistake on your application that gets you rejected, due to lack of research and preparation.

overthinking yes but not to that point (i worried about my distance learning being misunderstood etc...) but this case is probably most of the skilled workers case, being at the same company. let's hope all newbies end up mellowing out like you said :)

I was working as a software developer (NOC 2174) for this contracting company for 8 years before I got promoted to IT manager (NOC 0213) at the same company.
I can ask my manager to write any duties I want on the reference letter, and after some search I found that NOC 2174 is the one to choose because it is among the most on demand NOCs. I don't know whether I should mention my promotion and my new duties in the reference letter or not. and how to include 2 NOCs in the same letter.

The red part is not what you think it is. As long as your job is in the NOC list, you will be treated the same as the other applicants. There is no prioritize on a certain NOCs over the others for Express Entry. I think you confuse it with the PNP route.

Your loyalty shall be rewarded. No worries on the red flag. Stay Calm and collect your references. Wishing you a checkered flag.

I am in a situation where I think I perform duties from NOC codes :2171 ,2172,2173,2174 and these codes are similar with respect to IT industry.
I can obtain an Experience letter from my Organization for either of the above. I have around 10 years of experience . I understand that there are bacis difference in the above NOC codes , however based on the need I had to perform most of the duties mentioned from above 4 codes.
with respect to Primary skill I think 2172 and 2174 are the once which I can choose.

1)Could you please explain the PNP route NOC selection criteria.
2) For EE ,does the specific NOC code matters ? or only the skill type.

On the CIC website for job market rerport

https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/search_occupation-eng.do?titleKeyword=software+designer&id_en=6259&id_fr=5232&noc=2173&regionKeyword=Toronto,+ON&area=9219&action=Search

Some of the NOC has more jobs than the others , applying with NOC which has more number of jobs also means that many applicants may apply with that NOC code thinking that they have higher probability because of more number of jobs.
what things should be considered in order to maximize the chances for PNP/EE , I have not studied or lived in Canada , and applying from outside of Canada with 430 points mostly based on my IELTS score and work experience.

Job bank is obsolete now. It is not the requirement anymore.
If your NOC is in IT, you might be picked by OINP even with score below 400.
NOC in IT don't make you better if your goal is FSW.
