For all those who sent their applications today oct 11 2017 what mistakes did you make?

Just a heads up:

If you signed your application on October 11th, make sure you were eligible to apply for Citizenship on October 10th (Under the old regulations). At the end of the form it clearly says: You must be eligible to apply for citizenship the day before you sign your application. Sooooooooooo BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Must be eligible to apply for citizenship the day before THE MOMENT WHEN you sign your application. got it? you don't need a day to sign that. it is just an action.

Hey all,

Just as an FYI - the request to have any immigration documents in the citizenship application has now been removed from the guide, as per the below tweet from IRCC. It is also still not on the checklist.

If you do a hard refresh (usually control + refresh) on the guide, you'll see it has been removed.

Even if you have already sent a copy of one of those documents (e.g. PR Card, COPR, etc.), then there isn't going to be a problem as you're not missing anything.

I'm unsure why my own post was shared in response to a question that I'd posed, but that wasn't answered in my other post, lol.

As I said, I didn't see any changes to the document checklist (only the guide), but was wondering if anyone else had? Sounds like the person that suggested there had been (in another thread) has now said they don't actually see any.

So as I see it:
- Guide changed to remove need for COPR, PR card, etc.
- Document checklist unchanged.

I have put the documents in the below order! Yes, Photos first on the package as photos are in a small envelope so I didn't want to lose them.


1. Photos (In an envelope – written my full name and UCI # on the envelope)

2. Application – CIT 002 (signed and dated)

3. Physical presence calculator (signed and dated)

4. Photocopies of valid and expired passports (biographical pages only from both the passports)

5. Copy of confirmation of permanent residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)

6. Copy of Permanent Resident Card (PR Card)

7. Photocopies of proof of English (Diploma certificate)

8. Photocopies of 2 pieces of ID (Drivers license and Passport copy)

9. Receipt of an application fee of $630.00 paid online

it says one of the immigrant documents. so either 5 or 6 will be good.

my biggest mistake was using a VERY old Xpresspost envelope I had (from when you had to include a pre-paid envelope for CIC to send stuff back to you), and having my application delivered Monday instead of today or tomorrow. I actually applied literally on the first day I was eligible to make up for all the dragging my feet I did over the last mmm 8-9 years which resulted in the goal posts moving (Harper...) and me having to wait even more (plus I will always be horrible with finicky stuff like forms). Truth be told, there were some times earlier on when $550 or so was a bit of cash too.
Funny to think I actually went to school with people who someone managed to become residents while still attending university (to pay less tuition, if nothing else), either by bending the rules, fudging it, or who knows what... I pride myself on playing it by the book but it has become a bit of a running joke for our family and friends here that I pretty much bleed maple syrup but have naught to show for it...
anyhoy.. here's to hoping for a quick turnaround (200 days or less!)

ok, my mistake:

I had this paranoid about the presence calculator before weather or not to add a note to one of my international trips to indicate the connecting flight at us airport. The last minute i decided to do so. however, i ended up adding to some wrong trip in the 'reason' box in a bracket beside the reason, just like 'vacation and visit to family members (transited through US the same day on the trip)'. All dates, destinations and reasons are absolutely correct.

What could the consequences be? any thoughts?

Hi all, I have following questions -
Q13 - Have you ever had Immigration or citizenship status in any country other than Canada,including your country of birth?
My question - Is US visitor visa and other countries visit visas to be listed in this? Also my present country of birth and citizen of -that is since birth that is also to be listed?
Had UAE resident visa - is that also to be included?
Q15 - Language evidence - all three choice ,b),c) and second part of a) is not applicable for a student who did High school in Canada so is this to be left blank?
Lastly for a person who was in UAE with first 8 months of the eligibility period as a student ( Oct2012 to July 2013) but PR since July2012 how to fill up Q10a) and 11 ? Coz Oct 2012 -July 2013 was studying middle school in UAE and so the UAE address as physically located has to be filled up in 11 and but being a PR the Canadian addresswas given in all places for showing as resident of since July 2012. SO is this to be mentioned in 10 a) ?

For Q13, only visas that confer the right to live in a country need to be listed; visitor visas do not confer that right (that is, any immigration document that would allow you to legally stay in a country, including work permits, student visas, spouse visas, etc). As well, citizenships (current and former) and PR's (current and former) must be listed.

For Q10 and Q11, even though you were a PR of Canada, you were not living in Canada and you cannot provide an address in Canada for declaring where you lived during that period. You were a student in the UAE and that's were your lived. You cannot show residency in Canada for a period you did not live in Canada, even if you had an address you can use.

I didn't mention my transits through the US at all and doubt it is a big deal. I mentioned accurate dates and all destination countries. My reasoning would be that they don't think you're hidning anything. they have access (I think ) to the US data. the whole point of the trips is that - you don't hide anything, - you don't end up not being eligible by virtue of not being here enough.
I'm just another person on the internet, though.

As you should if you had 5 stop overs you only need your destination

What if some of the questions on the application form don’t apply to me?
You should fill in all spaces on immigration application forms. If a question does not apply, write “not applicable” or “N/A” in the space. That shows you have read and filled out the form fully.

If you are applying online and the form does not allow you to type “N/A,” leave the space blank.

Did it affect your dates? Reduced or increase. It has to be accurate.

i would suggest people not to travel to US or own a US visa in order to simplify things when citizenship application,

Dates are accurate. just the note was misplaced.
