For all those who sent their applications today oct 11 2017 what mistakes did you make?

Well, for me what I had is:

1. Photos (In an envelope – written my full name on the back of photos - no UCI since they didn't ask)

2. Application – CIT 002 (signed and dated)

3. Physical presence calculator (signed and dated)

4. Photocopies of valid and expired passports (biographical pages only from both the passports)

5. Copy of confirmation of permanent residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688) - asked in the guide but not in the checklist, one of CoPR/PRC/etc

6. Photocopies of proof of English (Diploma certificate)

7. Photocopies of 1 pieces of ID (PR Card only since I had passports in the last 5 years)

8. Receipt of an application fee of $630.00 paid online

I noticed that many are submitting multiple IDs, including driver's license, health card. However, when I checked through the check list and instruction guide, the only think needed is one landing document (CoPR/PRC/etc) and one ID (I used PRC).

I also put my documents in exact order of the Document Checklist in the envelope. I'm sure it's fine. I did the exact same thing with my PR application. I don't think it's essential for the receipt to be on the top and the very first thing they see.

I also only sent in my PR card copy and not my COPR as they did only ask for one landing document. I sent in my driver's licence as my other form of ID.

I initially referred him to the residency calculator - which is what the officer will use to determine eligibility. He didn't like it. Again - my focus is ensuring others get accurate information.

The Residency Calculator does not state that the instructions on the application or in the instruction guide are invalid or are open to multiple interpretations. The Residency Calculator simply counts the number of days the applicant is physically resident in Canada, it does not clarify that the instructions on the application and in the instruction guide are badly written and that their plain English meaning should be disregarded.

Never mind that the Residency Calculator is so badly designed that it took me 10 hours to complete it yesterday. (And the CIT0407 PDF, which can be used instead, was defective and had printing disabled!)

Experts, need suggestion. My wife need a police certificate as she spent more than 6 months in one single country. But if I apply after 3 months, she doesn't need it. So Shall I apply for me now and for her after 3 months?

Most people here wouldn’t have that problem since they were all stuck at the non-functioning online calculator and having trouble paying the fees yesterday ...

Lmfao. True though i want to move my date forward on the calculator to see how many extra days i get but its not even working

If its easy to get a police certificate now, do it and apply once you get it. If it is a hassle and will take a long time, then just wait the 3 months.

Just a heads up:

If you signed your application on October 11th, make sure you were eligible to apply for Citizenship on October 10th (Under the old regulations). At the end of the form it clearly says: You must be eligible to apply for citizenship the day before you sign your application. Sooooooooooo BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new law made the old one obsolete. If the calculator said you are eligible to apply on the 11th then don’t listen to anyone else.

Do I need to fill the application using all upper cases format? and or does it matter?

I use uppercase except for email address

im sure it is fine too. it just takes longer time for the officer to find your payment receipt.

I filled N/A. I dont know if there is a rule where all must be filled. Still rereading everything.


What are you attaching property documents for?

Unfortunately I also called immigration and they strongly recommended to sign the form on the 12th. I am not giving misleading/false information. I am trying to help people as I have been doing since I started in this forum. There is no point in rushing citizenship applications as there is no cap to be filled, just make sure you read every detail in the application.

The address of where you actually worked and ideally a senior mgr who can confirm your employment if needed.

Well it doesnt apply to anyone from today just people that submitted yesterday time will tell who and who had errors. Am not even half way done with the scanning and printing etc wonder how people got their act together so fast lol
