Hey, I landed in 2014 and was unemployed and then joined school in 2014 August till 2015 December and was searching for job (unemployed till 2016 April), I filed taxes for 2014,2015 and 2016. My question is for years 2014, and 2015? Was i required to file taxes as I was unemployed and student? Do i need to tick required or unrequired for the two years of unemployment and school?

This means that I had to tick- required to file for the years I filled?
I dont think its a big issue. You can file a return even if you dont have any income. The problem comes if you dont file when you were required to file a return. In your situation, the choice was yours if you wanted to file or not.

Apparently, it seems that you were not required to file return for those years. So, even if you have filed and marked as required to file or not required, your are good either way.

Hope this helps!
