Hey there,
I'm a Canadian citizen looking to sponsor my Russian wife. We have a massive amount of evidence our relationship is legit, so I'm not worried about that.

I am worried about our financial situation. I read cic.gc.ca about income requirements and noticed the say from Canadian sources. I haven't been in Canada since 2013 and have no Canadian source income. I'm a freelancer and most of my clients are from the US.

Second Q: in the tables at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5482Eguide.asp is says "total family members". Presumably we don't include ourselves, correct? That is, my income requirement to sponsor my wife would be the "1 person" row.

Overall, does anyone here know how to approach this situation? Any guidance would be appreciated!

dont think you would need 5482E if you are sponsoring your spouse under family sponsoring

There is no income requirement for spouse's. They will wonder how you will support your spouse but it is not a deal breaker. Your biggest challenge and not to be taken lightly is proving you intend to move to Canada.
