In the 2 years before I became PR, I was first an international student and then I got the post graduate work permit.

However, when I became PR I had to give up the work permit, so now I do not know the exact date I changed from student to worker in my status in the physical presence calculator.

Is this date important and needs to be precise? If yes, is there a way I can retrieve this info from Canada Immigration?

Same situation as you. My eligibility period is 2012-10-11 to 2017-10-11, so I put the work start date as 2012-10-11 as thats the period they care about. I too don't remember the exact date my work permit was issued as it was taken away the day I became a PR. I tried putting the start date as something earlier and it still calculated the same number of days, and displayed a warning message that part of the period is outside the eligibility.

i think for you it works because you were a worker for the whole period. i was a student and a worker for the eligibility period, so i have to use two statuses...

I was an international student till May 2012, then got my post grad work permit in June or July 2012. Eligibility period starts October 2012, so I only mention the work permit, not student.

Are you saying you have overlap as a student and worker during the eligibility period ?

exactly what I mean, for me instead, i was a student until March 2013, so i have had 2 statuses in the eligibility period but I don't know exactly when one ends and the other starts
