Hello All,

I am soon to apply for citizenship under the new rules, but I have a question. I have a valid Bahrain Residence Permit, so should I mention that in response to question 6f? I use that as a multiple entry visa to visit Bahrain where I have family and business interests but my total stay in Bahrain has not exceeded 90 days during the previous four years.

Thanks for your input.

6F asks: Do you have a permanent resident status or the equivalent in any country other than Canada? .. of course you have to mention you have a Bahrain Residence Permit, otherwise holding back that information would be considered fraudulent.

This is how I like to think of it. The only valid method for a Canadian citizenship to be revoked is if the applicant is proven to have misled or lied in the original application. Holding up information such as residence in other nations could be challenged as a misleading attempt. So why would anyone take such a risk? In the worst case, revealing such details may cause a delay for further investigation, but at least you know once you are granted your citizenship, it is for life.

Worse case is refusal on the grounds of fraud. The question is quite clear - you cannot choose to withhold it. It would actually be grounds, albeit small, for your citizenship to be revoke in the future based on misrepresentation. Just answer the questions honestly.

that is exactly what I said. I think you misunderstood me, I meant the worst case if you DO REVEAL the details; not if you hold them back.

Hi, do I need to say Yes and list my home country? Thank.
I don't think so, you are not a permanent resident of your home country, you are a citizen of that country; but supposedly you currently reside in Canada so you are a permanent resident of Canada. There are other questions in the form that ask for your country(ies) of origin/citizenship. For 6F I would say just list any that you may be resident of; and be ready to explain why you are a resident of another nation if you are applying to become a Canadian citizen; a procedure that obligates Canadian residency.

I agree but they ask you if you have a PR which you don't.

you mean if you are in the process of getting a PR of another country then you technically do not have it yet?
Yes thats what I mentioned. Secondly, if you got the PR of another country while your Citizenship is in process, do you have to inform them of the update yourself ?

Good point you are making, the question asks for current PR that you have, so if you are in the process of applying for one then technically you do not have it and do not have to include it. Also, the intent to reside introduced by C24 is gone, so nothing forbids you from becoming a Canadian citizen and moving to live abroad immediately.
As for your second question, then you have to inform IRCC about the new PR since it is a change in your status or info you originally provided in the citizenship application. In that case, you risk potential revocation in the future if it could be proved that you had another PR prior to the citizenship being issued, and you did not reveal that information.
By the way, I am commenting based on pre-C6 application and requirements. I haven't looked at the new application yet but it seems there are a lot of new questions. If you haven't applied yet you might want to familiarize yourself with those first.
