Hi,

I have a doubt on how to fill my Field of Study and NOC. My education is Bachelors in Electronics and Communication. But my job experience is as a Software developer.
What should I put under my Field of Study and my NOC.

The confusion is because NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers, matches with my job experience, but the Employment requirements for this NOC is described as "A bachelor's degree, usually in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering or mathematics or Completion of a college program in computer science is usually required."

Hi,

What should I put under my Field of Study and my NOC. Field will be Applied Science as engineering falls under it. NOC will based on your job duties and not the education or job title.

The confusion is because NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers, matches with my job experience, but the Employment requirements for this NOC is described as "A bachelor's degree, usually in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering or mathematics or Completion of a college program in computer science is usually required." The word usually is used here. Employment requirements are just a guide, they do not have to be there.

Software development is one of those fields where academic education is proving less and less important nowadays.
As long as the job was in a recognized organization, nobody will bother about your education background.
CIC knows many people work in software development without little or no academic background in IT.

Thanks for mentioning the Applied Sciences bit...I was wondering the same thing and was about to ask the same question. :)
