Just curious, under what conditions one needs to re-apply for the PR card?Is there anyone who applied in July 2017 and what's the timeline.
I sent my application on July 31st, no updates after that.
If PR is getting expired and you have not got the citizenship yetJust curious, under what conditions one needs to re-apply for the PR card?
AFAIK, PR card is valid for 5 years and one can get Citizenship if (s)he lives in Canada for 3 years.
I received my renewed card last week. Total time for my application is July 20 - Sep 27.When did you get the acknowledgement?
So if I had spent 2 years in Canada on my last PR card, do I need to spend 1 year on my new card or 3 years on the new card as well to qualify for citizenship? If PR is getting expired and you have not got the citizenship yet
The residency obligations is 2 years out of rolling 5 year . So in any 5 year period you should have 2 year. Card validity is not relevant. So if I had spent 2 years in Canada on my last PR card, do I need to spend 1 year on my new card or 3 years on the new card as well to qualify for citizenship?
Can you pls re-confirm if it is 2/5 Rolling or 3/5 Rolling years. The residency obligations is 2 years out of rolling 5 year . So in any 5 year period you should have 2 year. Card validity is not relevant.
It’s 2 out of 5 year at any given time after the initial 5 year. Can you pls re-confirm if it is 2/5 Rolling or 3/5 Rolling years.
I was under the impression that it is 3/5 Rolling years.
CongratsI received my renewed card last week. Total time for my application is July 20 - Sep 27.
Can you pls clarify this little more. It’s 2 out of 5 year at any given time after the initial 5 year.
The first 5 years since your landing in Canada. Are you a landed immigrant yet or yet to do so?Can you pls clarify this little more.
Didn't really understand what you meant by "after the initial 5 years" here.
I am yet to land. So let me make my understanding clear:The first 5 years since your landing in Canada. Are you a landed immigrant yet or yet to do so?
SInce you have not landed yet, I will take a hypothetical date and answer . Lest say you land on 01-Jan-2018. Then, between 01-Jan-2018 to 31-Dec-2023 you need to have 730 days or 2 years physical presence in Canada. After 31-Dec-2023 it is a 730 days or 2 years for any given 5 years. That means, after 31-Dec-2023, if IRCC examines a period from 01-May-2018 then they will examine 01-May-2018 and 30-April-2023. SO, after the first 5 years at any given point in time period there should be 730 days or 2 years physical presence in Canada to be considered as you having met the residency obligations.I am yet to land. So let me make my understanding clear:
I will be given 5 years PR once I land. So you mean I will have to sustain my PR in these 5 years and then to get the citizenship, I need to spend 2 continuous years in the next 5 years viz: 6-10 years after my initial landing?
