I will be submitting my PR application within the next week hopefully. After that i need to submit a restoration of status application.

For my restoration application i want to include proof of a higher amount of funds that i had shown before. I have two options for getting those funds;

1 - I can bring over some of my savings from the UK. I had been delaying doing this because the GBP isn't great at the moment.

2 - My common partner is willing to lend me however much CAD i want ($4k as an example) to put into my bank account which i can pay him back (or not) at a later date.

My question is which option looks better or does it really not matter? I imagine i cant just show my bank account with more money in it than i had before as that would look suspicious, i would feel better explaining that it either came from my UK account or it came from him. Its just which i should do.

As always, any input appreciated. Thanks!

(Edited to say sorry if this should have gone in a different forum!)

My apologies if I’m misunderstanding something about the application, but why can’t you just submit proof of funds in your UK account without moving them over? I use my American account, even while I’ve been here in Canada, and will be using that as part of my proof of funds when I apply to extend my visitor status. Do foreign accounts not meet the requirement?

I did include them in my visitor application and explained i could move them/have access to them if i had to.

I dont know if not having CAD funds was part of my visitor extension refusal but i dont want to leave anything to chance with my application for restoration. If having CAD funds helps even a little i want to do that.

In your first application, did you include a letter of support from your partner with their bank statement as well? If not, that would be a good addition.

No i didn't include an actual letter, i stated that he would support me, but it wasnt in the form of a letter signed by/from him.

I just feel that having a low amount of funds in my actual CAD bank account would go against me. And i am already in a bit of a tight/problematic situation having to restore my status, so i want to do all i can to try and "ensure" i get it restored.

Agree with @KBH ..a letter with his signature along with his account statement may help

When I applied for extensions, My partner wrote and signed a letter of support, and provided pay stubs. Both extensions were approved. I did not supply them with my personal bank statements, just his information.

I will for sure do the letter of support from him aswell when applying for my restoration..

But I think I will also either move some of my funds from UK OR actually borrow some money from him to put in my account..

Any input on what would seem like better option would much appreciated.

Most visitors don't even have Canadian bank accounts. Transferring money can actually work against people, as it can make IRCC suspicious about where the money came from and whether it actually belongs to the person.

Show your UK bank statements, a letter from your partner and his bank statements.

I agree with the answers given by experts above.. but since you persist with your idea, i guess u need to move the money and keep it on account for at least 3months or more
