Citizenship, PR processing times - Good news!

Point taken! So what is your take? What is being portrayed: Best case scenario or the worst case scenario?
Well the heart says best case scenario and as early as this Monday. But the brain says more like towards the end of Fall. There is far too much pressure on IRCC to go ahead with this change while applications are flooding in; and staff have to be stretched among divisions. If you have a quick look at the job website, they are hiring or trying to hire people all around the country. The issue is once hired, it takes time to train them ..etc. So it makes sense that they will need more time. A good example is of the grandparent's visa/lottery thing they had recently. Despite it appearing a straightforward project, people register online, and are selected by a computer, it took months before the results were made. Anyways, one thing I remind everyone on here, whether the wait is long or short, remember it will eventually end and we will all be Canadians. Keep in mind no matter how long it takes, it does not compare to most Western countries. Most require way way more than 3 or 4 years residence unless your spouse is local.
Bill C6 implementation - Simple from Infrastructure, IT, and even Training perspective. Politically sensitive, voluminous!
grandparent's visa/lottery - Simple but totally new from IT and Training perspective. Politically insignificant, volume of of applicants large, but the number of selected candidates per-determined.
That's not entirely accurate - true most of them require more than 3-4 years, but those 3-4 years mostly include pre-PR time 1 for 1, not 50% credit, and with no limit - if you have spent long enough as a student or worker, you may be eligible to citizenship shortly after PR
which country are you referring to. I know the UK for example does not count any time as student.
The political weight of C-6 was the whole 'Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian'; which is already fulfilled. The 3/5 part is completely insignificant politically.

Many people I talked to tended to focus, for the most part, the procedural aspect Bill C-6, namely 3/5 rule....
Another aspect of Bill C6 I liked was the enabling of Minors to apply for citizenship for themselves, huge room for abuse notwithstanding!
Non-applicants who tended not to like Bill C6 otherwise, looked favorably to 3/5 rule...
