Wrong passport number in CoPR- please seniors help.

Hello all,
I got similar kind of issue and need guidance on way forward. Here are some dates to give the context.


Number of applicants – 4 (myself, spouse, and 2 kids)
Date of medical - June 2017
AOR - 10 July 2017
Med Passed- 21 July 2017
Na2- 26 July 2017
IP2 - 29 Aug 2017
PPR- 31 Aug 2017
Passport submitted to VFS - 12 Sept 2017
Application Approved status - 22 Sept 2017 (today)
Passport yet to receive. VFS status shows it is being process in New Delhi, Canada Visa Office.

My wife's passport was expiring in Feb 2018. So we got her passport renewed on 10 Aug, 2017. I raised CSE and informed IRCC and uploaded the renewed passport on 15 Aug 2017. I sent an email to CPC-Ottawa on 27 Aug 2017 to check whether they received new/renewed passport of my spouse. Received response back on 28 Aug, 2017 that they have received the documents. And then on 29 Aug status changed to IP2 and on 31st Aug, got PPR email.

However, now when my application is approved today and I see the following issue in my document status table against my wife's name:
Travel Document number - Old passport number

Expiry date against all of us (Myself- Primary Applicatant, and 3 dependents). - Date of expiry of my wife's old Passport - which is Feb 2018.

Although, I have not received the passport yet, and VFS status still shows that it is being processed in New Delhi, yet I assume, that since the document status shows this, they would stamp the passports with expiry date of Feb 2018. Even though my medical date is June 2017 and none of our passports expiring before 2019.

Is there anyway to get this changed before the passport gets stamped? Due to certain other commitments, I would not be able to travel before apr/may 2018 and hence this Feb 2018 deadline would create lot of problem. Moreover, the document number mentioned against my wife's name is no longer valid, as we got the passport renewed.

I have already raised CSE and sent email to CPC ottawa.

Has anyone faced similar issue.

Please guide what can be done and if there is any way to rectify/resolve this.

I am not sure if you will be able to get Xpresspost envelope in India. You may want to use FedEX for return. You can put a separate thread on this and check with people who have similar experience.

Also as per India law, it is not legal to send passports in post. So you need to clarify that as well. Even for Indian residents who have visa office as Ottawa, passports stamping process happens in India only. People from US do send Indian passports to Canada for stamping, but it is a different story in North America, and also Indian laws won't come in to picture.

There won't be any issues when passport goes out of the country, but customs can hold when it comes in to India. So you need to have clarity on what is what before you ship it out.

I have the same issue as yours. My passport no is also wrongly entered in Visa and COPR by delhi embassy. Did you get any replies from them? Were you able to correct it??

I also just talked to the agent in CIC office canada on the number you gave me. she told me my file is currently in Canada. so all the corrections will be done in Canada.

No i am still waiting for any response from the Delhi office. I called them many times asking for appointment they said they stopped giving personal appointments some time ago so you have to wait for the visa office to respond. I will wait for the 30 days as the minimum time they mentioned in acknowledgement email was 30 days then i will send another mail.

So if you have not send any email to delhi office with your name, dob, file number, and other details having subject line Wrong information on Visa then send it immediately as our corrections will be done in Delhi only.

Sorry for the late reply. I guess the only way was to send emails to both New delhi and ottawa offices. But when they will respond is completely unpredictable. So the only thing we can do is send a reminder once the 30 days period is over. So you will have to wait.

I sent to
DELHIIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca and CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca
And i am still waiting for the response its been more than 20 days since i sent them email. Few days more then i will send a reminder again. Yeah sure I will let you know if and when i get any response from visa office. Hopefully they will respond back soon. All the best..

Hello, I just received a call as well as email from NDVO to submit the passport and CPR through VFS. They contacted me on the last day of the minimum time expiry mentioned in the acknowledgement email that is 30 days. So i will suggest you to wait for 30 days after sending them email. Then Visa office will contact you.

Ohh!!! Thats nice to hear. Congrats!! Have you submitted yet?? Do let know once u get it corrected. Will they stamp a new visa or correct the existing??

Yup i have submitted the docs now waiting for them to return after correctio . Yeah sure i will let you know what they did once i get them back. Hopefully you will get soon if not then send another email

Did you receive it back. Did they correct it? I still have not received any mail or call. My 30 days is geeting over by 26th. Hope i will get a mail with in a couple of days. Update us on how it went.

Did you get your CoPR and passport back? if yes, when?
