Short landing - without kids - any problems at the border?

Hello Seniors!

I would like to ask if anyone has experienced doing first time landing alone (as a main applicant) leaving the dependents at home country? Then come back to Canada after some time with complete family before expiration of CORP?

I have heard that some officers at the border may not allow you to enter the country without dependents or they may not send a PR card, even though the law allows for dependents to come later as far as they land prior expiration of landing paper.

The thing is that I got my CORP today and have to make landing by June 2018.

I have decent job in my home country and therefore I am planning to come to Toronto in October 2017 for 1 week along with my wife but leave our 2 small kids in my home country with my parents.
At first trip, we plan to come to "activate" PR status, obtain SIN, bank accounts, get sim card and then go back to origin country and look for jobs remotely.

As for a second trip some time in May 2018 we plan to come all together with kids and settle permanently in Canada.

Has anyone heard there will be any issues at the border when we land without kids at first trip?

I appreciate any thoughts/experience sharing on this matter.

You should have no problems with the plan you have outlined above.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
How are you going to come back in May without PR card ?
If OP lands this October, provide a friend's address to receive the PR card, have the friend to courier his PR card to him, he can travel back to Canada directly with his PR card.

Otherwise, he can apply a PRTD at a VAC or Canadian consulate nearby.

What i have learned on this forum is that , sending PR card may be risky because of RFID thing.

There is no "RFID thing". You can courier the card.

I have a questions, if would be great if someone could help:

1. I plan to do short landing to Canada from US around end of January 2018. I then plan to go to India (home country) for few months from Canada before moving back to Canada.

Can I give a relative's address at POE to mail the PR cards? I would then ask my relative to mail it to me in India so that I can travel back. Let me know.

as you can read on other posts here people do this all the time and whilst some people come here and question the legality of mailing overseas it is not illegal and highly unlikely customs are sitting around looking for PR cards, hopefully they have better things to do.

So have the card mailed in your name to your friends address and have your friend either mail or courier the card to you in India. For peace of mind people generally use a courier as opposed to mail .It will take a couple months for IRCC to generate the card so plan return accordingly.
