I recently got a job offer and on my 2nd month of working full time as a Marketing specialist. (hired full-time at a median wage) My visa is expiring soon (in 7months on Working Holiday Visa ) and I was hoping to get this extended.

I know LMIA is a rigorous process to go through, so I was worried about my lack of job experiences.
because I barely have total 1.5year of experience (all less than 6months) but I believe I have the skill sets for the job and have been performing okay.

in my understanding, after you get approved for LMIA. you have to go to 'flagpole' and show the educational credential assessment and all that and that's when they first examine your job experiences and such.

So long story short, only asset I can show to the immigration officer is to show bachelor's degree in Marketing and my personal design portfolio website full of my personal to business projects.(since my role involves lots of graphic design works) ANYWAYS I am not fully sure if those will suffice. I have a short few experience that is relevant to the work position.

Finally - My questions
1. Do you guys see hope in my case, or my work experience is too short to impress?
2. Is hiring a lawyer necessary? if it is, you think they can help my case profoundly?
3. How strict are the officers at flagpole when it comes to verifying job experiences or certificates? - since my job certificate (proof of work) are written down in Korean, I have to translate my own and I don't wanna cause any issues.
4. What is the prospected deadline for requesting LMIA to my employer? (3months? 4months before my visa expires?)
5. Will I be able to get implied status if ever my visa gets expired while processing LMIA (before approval)?
6. What should I get ready with? (e.g. education credential assessment, job certificate.)

-My location is in Vancouver, BC. 27years old single male

Thank you,
Jason

If your employer is able to obtain an approved LMIA, I think you'll have no trouble getting the work permit. I would worry about getting the LMIA first because this is a long and difficult process. Your employer should start six months before your visa is due to expire. First step is to advertise the job for a month according to the LMIA advertising requirements. If your employer advertised the job previously, chances are extremely high that this wasn't according to the LMIA requirements and he'll have to advertise the job for another month again.

You will NOT have implied status while the LMIA is processing. If your visa expires before the LMIA is processed, you'd need to stop working.

You're an awesome person. Thank you that made me feel a little better about my qualification. yes I guess i will talk to my employer. Is getting a lawyer mandatory on corporation's end?
