Hi guys I need your help to take my decision.. :::urgent::: 1) I came in canada in may 2015 I have completed one Semester in public college in sep 2015 2) Then I have completed two year post secondary diploma from private designated learning institution in April 2017 3) After that I did not apply for PGWP.. 4) Now I am doing one year post graduate diploma from public college. I will graduate in December 2017 .. Questions. 1) If I will apply my PGWP in dec 2017. What will be the length of my PGWP. 2) If I want to get three year PGWP. What should I do. My new study permit will expire in 31 march 2018.. 3) If I will take one more diploma of one year. When should I start that diploma in Jan 2018 or may 2018..if I will start my new diploma in may 2018 they will consider my continuous study or semester off in my study .. ..

Since, you already completed 2 yr diploma then I think you are already eligible for 3 yr work permit. Talk to a counsellor in your college.

you can get no credit for either 1 or 2 given 1 is more than 2 years ago and 2 was a private college so unlikely to be considered for a PGWP.

So 4 is confusing as a 1 year course graduating Dec 2017 yet you completed the private college course Apr 2017 so was there an overlap?

So assuming 4 counts somehow as 1 year my view would be if you apply in December you only may get 1 year PGWp as private colleges generally do not count.

Having completed the course in December starting a course in May is not a semester off as is not the same course it is just a gap during which you cannot work.

Impossible to predict how CIC will view finishing in Dec and then taking up a new course in May but you may qualify at the end of the May 2018 1 year course for a 3 year PGWP under the 1 year course completed in the 2 years prior to applying rule, the course you graduate from in December 2017. Probably a good idea to take up the course in January and not May in case to maintain some continuity.

See here in the permit issuance section http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/students/post-grad.asp

I studied in vacational program from private designated learning college. That program was approved by ministry. They will not consider my diploma for PGWP.

Private colleges may well be on the DLI list but unless they meet very specific conditions whereby they operate under the same conditions/ processes as a public college then attendance would not be considered towards a PGWP.

All you can do is to include that time in any PGWP application and see if accepted , nobody here can predict the outcome other than generalise that private college attendance is usually not considered. For sure on this forum there are plenty of posts warning about this.

I think you mean Vocational program. If you do it from private dli in quebc it is valid for pgwp.

Any designated learning inst - mean no restriction on field of study. Inst. has to be dli.

If it says business now you are restricted to doing business course only. Call cic for confirm it.

183 (6) means implied status. Have you been refused pgwp before?
