Dear experts,

I am interested in applying for the express entry program. I have two choices, One just adding my one year of foreign work experience, where my score comes up to be the 433 and second choice is to add canadian work experience where my score comes up to 511.

Now I am so stressed about second choice. I was working 20 hours on my study permit, while my thesis was under correction. As soon as my thesis was accepted, due to some bad advice I started working 26.5 hours at the same place without applying for the PGWP. I realized my mistake after almost 19 days and as soon as I realized, I went to the border and got my PGWP through flagpoling. I kept working for 26.5 hours for another 4 months and then I changed myself to full time employee.

I am very concerned about he 3 weeks where I worked more than 20 hours on my study permit, since i was not under an implied status. I am thinking to just use my foreign work experience and claim points for that so that I do not have to get under being scrutinized for the unauthorized work of 3 weeks. However, with that my score is 433 and I might or might not get ita. The Second choice is to apply with the canadian exprerience. However, it is the combination of full time and part time experience. And currently with adding both the experience I finish one year. However, I am worried officer will note my 3 weeks of unauthorized work. The Third option is to wait for another 3 months and use only full time experience that I will finish of about one year, and not mention my part time experience at all.

Experts please suggest what option will be the best. Considering there is always a personal history section where I will have to declare everything. Can I apply now, and give LOE? Am i putting myself in danger or danger of being rejected? I cant afford a lawyer and I am going to wait for all your inputs. Thanks

Thanks. I actually do meet one year of canadian experience, Since I was working part time on my PGWP, and later on full time. I actually started working from August 1 2016, 26.5 hours a week and I got PGWP on August 19th. So I have that three weeks of unauthorized work. And then i started working full time from December 1st. So even If i calculate the work experience I have from the day I got PGWP, that is from August 19th 2016, I have one year of CE. But I am unsure of how to put it in the profile. Because the reference letter i will get is that he is working from august 1 to november 30, for 26.5 hours a week and from december 1 to present, 37.5 hours a week. I am worried that officers will raise their concern that how did i started working from August 1st while i was allowed to work starting August 19th. What do you suggest?

Your Canadian work experience on the study permit will not be counted anyway towards your CEC work experience. Only work on PGWP counts. So, you shouldn't claim the work before PGWP (including the 3 weeks) and you only need to add them in your personal history in which case you will not be required to submit any documents for.

To sum up, your two options are:
1- Apply with your foreign work experience.
2- Wait until you have 1 year of work experience on PGWP, then apply with your Canadian work experience.

If I were in your shoes, I would create an EE profile right now with the 433 CRS points because you are so close to get invited. If not, in few months, you will be able to add your Canadian work experience and boost your CRS.

Good Luck!

You are allowed to work before you receive your PGWP as long as you meet these requirements.

In this case, I can see many options:
1- Ask your employer to provide you a reference letter starting from Aug. 19th. Or
2- Wait in the pool with only foreign work experience. If not picked in three month, only use full-time experience. Or
3- List everything and explain your situation in a Letter of Explanation.

Again, I would recommend option 2 especially with the 433 CRS points you have.

BTW, how much foreign work experience do you have?
Hi,
Thanks for your opinion. I have an experience of one year and 3 months.
