Hi Guys,

Could you please share your experience, if you have renewed your passport after getting COPR and PR Visa stamped in your passport ?
The reason is that the passport is valid for 8 months and if needed travel after 2 months many airlines refuse boarding if passport is expiring in less than 6 months. So the passport could be renewed and have PR Visa transferred to your new passport via VFS. I read in some forums that they provide a service to transfer a valid visa from an expired passport to new one. But I am not sure if they can do it for PR Visa and for a canceled passport.
Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Regards.

You can renew your passport. Expiration of your passport does not invalidate the visa on it. You can travel with both old and new passports.

Thanks for the response. I am just curious if it is true in case of cancellation of passport and renewal before expiry ( I know the two mean the same in most circumstances ). And does it apply to PR Visa as well.

P.S. Since PR Visa is issued only once for single entry, I am being extra cautious. Thanks for understanding.
