Open Work Permit for Spouse

Hi ,
I have applied for an open work permit on 28th of August , 2017 ( online through CIC website) while I am already in Canada .

My husband is currently on closed work permit in Montreal and we are waiting for my open work permit.

I already have a contract job but cannot start till the open work permit decision is provided.

Can anyone share the timelines they faced in similar situation .

The link "Check Processing Times" for work permit shows 78 days which is more than 2 months.

78 days is the processing time for a work permit extension. From what you've said, you don't currently have a work permit, so that processing time doesn't apply. You need to look at the processing time for an initial work permit.

There is no appropriate category for open work permit as it is not the same as work permit , open work permit is given to spouses of current work permit holders and have a different queue I believe

It is an Open Work Permit, so yes, it is the same. OWPs are granted in many circumstances, not just to spouses of work permit holders. There is no special processing time.
