In my origin country the authorities advise us that the expired passport to be destroyed after a while (like a expired credit card, expired driving license, expired health card etc....).This is the meaning of my question.
I am from Australia and when I renew my passport (thru the Vancouver embassy) they clip the front cover and bio page so that the passport can't be used and is effectively null and void... but, they return the old defunct passport along with the new one and I don't destroy them.

I keep my old passports as I have actually needed them for Canadian immigration purposes. I currently have 2 passports (old one that expired and current one) that span the 7 year time period Citizenship is looking into so I have to be able to present them for the application, travel stamps etc.

I’d just like to share my Citizenship test and interview experience. The test is easy with straight forward questions. Anyone who used to solve the online quizzes will be easily able to get the top score. The officer emphasized not to share the questions or even discuss them outside the testing room, otherwise, the person who does so, will be exposed to legal actions. Now I know why the people don’t share the questions in the forum.

Then we went to another room where there were four officers. Each one has files of some examinees. For my interview, the lady officer congratulated me to get 20/20. Then, she went through my work/education section in the application. Also, she asked about my travels before and after application with a quick look to the passport (just to see how many stamps are there ). Finally, she asked about any criminal record and took the green paper of declaration of clearance check they gave before the test for everyone to sign. She told me you passed the test and interview, soon will get the oath ceremony invitation.

Good luck for everyone!
