hello Everyone,

So yesterday I received this email "
Ready for Visa / Prêt pour Visa"

Which offcourse is a fantastic news, however so far what i have known and heard is, we are usually issued a visa with a deadline to complete our first landing in Canada.

However in our case, in the email there is no timelines mentioned and I have been asked for a confirmed itinerary and to ensure to travel on the same.

I may not be able to travel till the end of this year and plan to travel in Jan 2018, but how can i confirm if that date is okay.

I had submitted my application only end of June 2017 and medical a week before that.

Appreciate any guidance.

Thanks
nikhil

You need to land before your medical expires, which is within one year. Based on when you took your medical you could make an estimation.

Or wait until your application is approved. You can then see the validity of counterfoil online

Yeah
Thats what I thought,
But just wanted to be sure.

Also is it okay, if I have a return ticket or should I buy only a one way ticket.

You are free to leave Canada after you land if you wish. Just remember you can't fly back into Canada without your PR card.

No You don't need to submit travel plan with passport.
Actually, I have been asked to submit, confirmed travel itinerary.
That is what has surprised me.
I went to local VFS office in here and they confirmed, such cases do happen.

Hence i want to know if it is okay if i plan to travel Jan 2018

My medical should be valid till June 2018

Does it state anywhere, that first landing is valid for a year from date of medical ?

When you get your passport with the Visa & COPR letter or just the COPR (if you are from visa exempt country). The COPR document will tell you exactly the deadline before which you need to land in Canada to complete the PR process. As others have mentioned, it is almost exactly 1 year from the date of medical (medical results are only valid for 1 yr, thus PR process needs to be completed by reaching/landing at the port of entry in Canada before medicals expire).
