RCMP Check

Hello,

I'm a CIC inland applicant. I passed my medicals today.
As soon as I passed my medicals, a request to provide RCMP Criminal Record Check came in.

Can someone share his/her experience in obtaining this? Can it simply be all done in a local police center or are there other things to take care of?

Also, one of the requirements is stating the visa office that the information is going to be submitted to. How do I know the visa office processing my application? Is there only one for CIC Inland applicants?

you check it though online cic where you can go to get RCMP letter. Usually after being done with fingerprints and your criminal check record. Usually takes 2-3 weeks to receive it in your mailbox.

if you haven't been to Canada before, I assume you should write a letter explaining when I am not in Canada, how can I submit a RCMP.

IRCC explains on its website how applicants outside of Canada can obtain the RCMP clearance.

The thing is, how can you prove that you have never been to Canada? The reason you are getting the request for an RCMP check is that the name-based check returned a record in Canada (meaning, someone with the same name as you has a criminal record).

You can certainly contact your visa office and request that this requirement be waived, but I doubt they will agree, and then you will have lost valuable time.

My suggestion would be to just do it. Instructions for applying for the RCMP check are on the website.

For clarification, are you a CEC inland applicant? I thought CIC normally performed their own background checks once you lived Canada.

IRCC automatically performs name-based criminal records checks on ALL applicants. Fingerprint-based RCMP checks are only required if a record is returned on the name-based check.

That is correct. What I was allluding to is the fact that CEC inland applicants are not required to submit police certificates to initiate a background check. It is CIC's responsibility as you stated to conduct its security clearance independent of the police certificate furnished by the applicant.

Oh yes sorry. I should have stated that more clearly in the post. I was referring to the Canadian police certificate specifically.

Hi,

I got the same letter (AOR 8 Sept). I have recently moved to new location on Sept 1, 2017, This is my latest address in my profile, but old address is also mentioned in my address history. My RCMP report has my old address, fingerprint and photo. They also put my new address on top as I use the same for mailing address.

Will this be an issue?
