my mother applied for a trv with the reason of accompanying me when I make my landing as PR last July 27,2017 and was refused just now.reasons for refusal are the following:
travel history-my mother has a valid us visit expiring this October,2017,visited the US once,Australia,Shanghai,HK and Singapore for the last 10 years
current employment-my mother is now a homemaker after my fathers death 2 years ago but was a pharmacist and in corporate sales
personal assets and financial status- submittted land titles for 3 properties, money in the bank 5k cad anf stock investment 7k and or/cr of her car.
Can she reapply readily and how can she address reasons for refusal.

thanks so much for your answers

She needs to demonstrate stronger ties to her home country.

I would reduce the length of her visit two weeks. Does she have any immediate family members in her home country that she can mention (e.g. other children)? Did she provide proof of her previous travels?

Her funds are a bit on the low side - are there any further assets she can demonstrate?

There's really nothing you can do about the employment refusal reason. However the fact she is a homemaker unfortunately weakens her ties.

Does she receive rent from the three properties? Did she provide proof of this?

You may have to travel to Canada without her and then have her visit you after you've lived here for a few months.

Unfortunately, this is precisely the reason why your mom has been refused as IRCC has concerns that she is moving to Canada with you. As a visitor, she is allowed only short stays. But, her purpose of visit is contrary to that of a visitor.

Also, given her personal circumstances, she did not demonstrate any strong reasons to return to her home country (no family ties as your dad has passed away + property as assets do not compel someone to return by a specific date + she is unemployed).

1. How long did she remain in the US or Australia or HK/SG on previous visits?

2. Are the properties owned by your mom or are they in your dad's name?

3. Do you have any other siblings who live with your mom? Ideally, single and/or minor?

4. How long did your mom intend to visit?

5. Would CAD 5,000 cover the cost of airfare + expenses for 2-3 weeks stay?

Appreciate much your quick response. The Come to Canada tool has a question if you are accompanying someone who has been granted PR status, the reason why the document checklist generated a letter of invitation.
1. She stayed in the US for 2 weeks and the rest of her travels usually 5days.
2.The properties are under her name.
3.Both my siblings are single and we all live with my mother.
4. My mom intend to stay in Canada for a month.
5.From backreading in this forum,1000/week is needed so I guess her funds is enough

Hi, can you assist me? I am in a similar situation, meaning I will have to apply for my mom's visitor visa to accompany me to Canada. What should I mention as the purpose of her visit? Should it be "Tourism" or "Others". If I mention the purpose as "Others", I am asked for a "Letter of Invitation", but I do not live in Canada, I will be landing as an immigrant for the first time, so am I allowed to invite her?

How did you submit a letter of invitation - isn't it supposed to be from some who is in Canada as a PR /citizen and has an address and phone no. in Canada? Since you will only be a PR after you complete the landing formalities, are you allowed to issue a letter of invitation?

Hope senior members can anawer this.I just followed the format and wrote my home address. For me, the letter of invitation reinforces the purpose of visit of the applicant. My dilemma now is if my mother reapply, can tourism then be the reason of her visit?

Even I was wondering if I can state the purpose as "Tourism", I hope it's not misrepresentation. Someone else on this forum has suggested you can state the purpose as "visiting family/friends"
