You are almost there but all depends upon the visa office /officers. Different application have different cases. As for us back ground check started Aug 3,2017. 20 days after we received our AOR2. good luck.

My experience with GC Key has been that it's very unreliable, so I would recommend calling in 10 business days after sending documents along to ask the agent to confirm that they've been added to the file.

My experience is that CIC Call Centre says that they can't access files if they're being worked on outside Canada. You could still try the call centre - the worst that can happen is they say they can't help you. You could also try contacting the VO, but I've read that certain VO's are easier to get in touch with than others.

There is an NDVO thread that may have better answers, since people there may be more familiar with how that particular VO deals with communications.
